Let's start this volume with a terrific warm up drill that also emphasizes ball control. This game is 100% cooperative, but also encourages a great deal of fast footwork and good recovery skills. In a mini-tennis setup, place an extra ball on either side of the playing area. To begin with, have the players rally only in one service box with one ball on the ground on each side of the hitting area. In between shots, each player picks up one of the balls from the court and then places it down on the court again after the next hit. One hit they would make with the ball in their hand and on the next hit, the ball will be back down on the court.

Once they master this in two boxes, have them try the same game in four. With four players, have both players on each side of the net pickup and then put down a ball regardless of whether or not they or their partner were the ones who hit it.
