Hey guys, it’s Aaron. The song I’m going to teach you tonight is called Rehab by Rihanna. When I first heard it on the radio today, it’s like I’m not going to teach that song because it’s talking about rehab. So I thought it’s talking about drugs but apparently it’s not, so I guess Rihanna’s not so bad after all. But the intro sounds a little something like this… and at the end I’m not sure, I think it’s an F chord… something like that or it could be a D chord so it could be… I’ll let you guys pick. But the one thing I want you to notice about this intro that we’re going to teach you is, it sounds and looks pretty complicated but if you look at my fingers slow down they’ll break it up instead of one whole thing into four parts alright. Look at the first part here… ok… Once you noticed that my fingers are on A minor chord, it just starts with the pointer finger off okay? So, because of that, the first four, the first note that you’re going to play is an A minor chord. Ok, make A minor, take your pointing finger off. Okay? Now, you’re going to start on a five string. You’re going to play five, four, three, two… two. But on the second two, you put your pointer finger on the first fret so… and you play back up to the three. So, five, four, three, two, open, two first fret, three, okay? Then the next part if ever you watch… is all in the C chord. Okay. So after the first part we just did… you switch to a C and you play five, four… five, four, three, two. When you play the two, you take your pointer finger off just like before. But you play it open… and you hammer on… then pull off. So basically, it’s almost like playing open first open so… so three picks, but that can be replaced with just a… so one pick… hammer and pull off. So… okay. So in the C chord with your pointer finger off, five, four, three, two, open, pointer finger hammer on. Pull it off so get three sounds from the one pick. One pick. One sound. Two sound. Three sound.
Then you’re going to play… look for this tab for this part… yeah, you’re going to play the three string. Then you’re going to play the four string again and back to the three. So you play, five, four, three… two… hammer on. And actually the tab says, instead of going the open hammer first off, you can actually do the first pointer finger on the first fret of your two string. Play it… hammer on with your pinky… and pull off. That’s going to be tougher for a lot of beginners, hammering on and off with your pinky… So the tab will just show the pinky. But if you have trouble doing that, just do with your pointer finger okay first fret like that. Like a _. Then once you get into, after that little… you’re going to play four, or three, four, three, okay? Then you’re going to switch to a G chord and play six, five, four, two, three, four… see… yeah, and then you go to an F chord, and you’re just going to play six, five, four, three, two, three, four, five. And I’m not sure if that F is right or if it should be a D. If you like the D better just make a D chord with this high E string open, and just play… yeah it’s four, three, two, one, two, three four, ok. So you put it all together... That’s with the D, with the F… up to you guys. It’s part of preference.
Same way with the actual song, whenever you’re strumming the chords, this is kind of a lot like the song I called What Goes Around by Justine Timberlake, because it’s a lot of the same chords. So the whole, all the way through the song is an A minor… to a C… to G… and in the fourth chord, maybe a D… and maybe an F… I know that there should be easy to distinguish for but for some reason, I’m having a hard time. So you guys listen to it, comment, let me know if you think it’s a D chord there on the fourth chord or an F. But it’s just A minor… to a C… to a G… and then I’ll just say F… alright. And the strum pattern I’m using is down, down, up, up, down, up, down, down, up, up, down, up… One more, you know, with the D… Up to you guys so, have fun with this song.
