So, how are you? Welcome back once again. Finally we analyze now the solo of Riff Raff the live version from the 1979 live album. If you want live you have got it. I would like to add as this claimer. There seem to be some people that make like a whole big thing out of nothing in my humble opinion that is if I do a couple of notes different or if the fret for position for like 4 or 5 notes are slightly different from what they think should be. I become bad teacher and I do false things. I hope you know by now that it is not my intention to be teacher I am just trying to show and I really truly do my best in doing so. I just try to show what I have learned so far. Hopefully it can be useful to you as well. This is what I did for myself. I am just doing on the screen the way I do it for myself, all right. So, here it is.
And now, that we have seen it all together let us get into it piece by piece. I will not be explaining by note as usual even though to suppose I am not sure a 100% this are exactly the individual notes. So, I might be wrong with the some parts. I apologize in advance should that in the case be, all right. I will try to get closer to you so you can see. And so here we go. Open A, you see, I go with an octave higher so I play and then an octave higher and I do this movement and then. So, this last thing is movement here, it is a typical rock and roll thing that is been used in the years even by the great Led Zeppelin guitar player Jimmy Page and some typical rock and roll thing and you do this, okay. So, he does. I will do this again. End of part one.
We have already seen this in the rhythm part so let us proceed to part two of the solo. You see how I do this? So, this particular position here I bent the B string in the 12th position. And then, high up with my pinky finger I go on the E string 12th position. It just there you can see it properly while I do it. And then, let us go to typical on the B string. And then, this is actually a big confuse and I slowed it down with audacity the software that I use since you slow down the tempo. And I notice that it is making a little mistake if I can follow it so while playing as well so I just heard it and I do not pretend to do exactly the same movements. I have said this many, many times. On certain things I like to compromise especially if it is a live solo and on certain original recording in the studio solos when he messes up a bit. It is just part of the improvisation that he does and sometimes it just impossible to copy it exactly or maybe it is possible but you have to spend a whole amount of time to just do copy little mistakes and in improvisation that happen, it stuff that just happens, all right.
So, after this part there is this, okay. This part I just do it like that. And then, there is a little scale going up on the fret chord that he is down with notes. I will do it again but I myself for example improvise at times as well in these specific parts so. Okay, here comes a part that I like very much because it is just a strange notes actually it is chords that provoke special moment, special ambiance and in the sound it is just as very special moment that I like very much and he basically just does that playing this chords here A note I will play it open, okay A string. And then, I start on the 5th fret I believe he does the same and he goes.
Just like that, all right. So, I hope you were able to grab this one as well. Just watch it few times and remember to watch with you ears as well, that is very, very important and I hope you can get something out of it, all right. Thanks for watching as usual. Bye!
