How to Play Roulette
Dana West: To think that Grace Kelly might have missed the Princess Ball if it wasn’t for roulette.
Brian Tracey: How was that?
Dana West: Well, Monte Carlo was nothing. Do you honestly think that the queen of the Hollywood is going to marry the prince of nothing?
Brian Tracey: Well, probably not I think.
Dana West: No, so roulette made Monte Carlo. If you were the crown prince and you had that chip in your pocket well, I’d marry you too.
Brian Tracey: Oh you mean me?
Dana West: Uh-huh.
Brian Tracey: Well, how sensitive of you.
Dana West: Thank you.
Brian Tracey: Well if you are playing roulette for the first time or if you're playing it again and again down on the floor they are rocking into the how-to’s of roulette and Jeff Colt is right in the thick of it.
Jeff Colt: Now that’s called the winning straight up when the ball hits your number and that pays a whapping 35 to one. One of the great things about roulette is the community spirit. With the unique chip system the roulette allows players to make the same bet, a kind of we’re all in this together feeling. The high excitement of the entire table shuffling bets until the last second coupled with a real camaraderie makes roulette one of the easiest and most fun games to learn
Female: Oh Jeff, time for you to learn.
Jeff Colt: Thanks, but no thanks Lady luck. I just report on it. It's my job. I'm a reporter.
Female: Don’t be afraid, Jeff. Mike’s the topnotch dealer and I will watch over you.
Jeff Colt: Thanks, Lady Luck but because of you everybody is.
Female: Good point, continue please.
Mike: Bail the kale, Jeffrey.
Jeff Colt: Huh?
Mike: You're dowered me, money.
Jeff Colt: Oh, oh money is this going to come out of my expenses?
Mike: Uh-huh. Now it is simple as terms. Roulette is just a game of chance, play it with a little white ball on a big spinning wheel. Now, it can be mastered by anyone even you.
Jeff Colt: Oh hey.
Male: Step up to the table I’ll get you up to speed.
Jeff Colt: Now, wait a minute how come I got blue chip and he’s got green one? Are greens worth more money?
Mike: No, no, no here both your change is in quarters of the different colors are so I know who is making what bet, that way you can both play the same numbers. Now, this table has a minimum bet of one dollar, now that’s going to vary from casino to casino. You can break a minimum bet into four quarters and play four different bets.
Jeff Colt: Okay, you mean like three—14, 22, 34.
Mike: Yes, straight up on those numbers, but there is 11 different bets you can play on the roulette layout and as you split your bets your odds come down. For instance if you take the 14 chip and you move it over here, now you are playing 14 and the 15 and this split bet pays 17 to one or roughly half your straight up bet. Now if you want to cover four numbers you place it here and you're covering 23, 24, 26 and 27 and that my friend pays what?
Jeff Colt: Eight to one.
Mike: Right.
Lady Luck: You are cathing on Jeff.
Jeff Colt: Hey, thanks LL
Male: What about me, I hit straight up 10 times today I got no respect.
Mike: Ask me a question.
Jeff Colt: Okay what if I place the chip right there?
Mike: Five numbers, it pays six to one.
Jeff Colt: Can I play six numbers?
Mike: Sure, sure, right here that’s pays five to one simple as that. Play as many chips as you want. The more numbers you cover the more action you have on the table.
Jeff Colt: That’s great.
Male: Hey, no West man, his bucks is over here.
Jeff Colt: Hey, you know what? Even a guy wear three earrings could figure that out. These are odd even, black red and high low.
Mike: Yeah, pretty self-explanatory. Now those are called the outside bets as oppose to the inside bets on the numbers we just showed you. Outside bets pay even money. Now you can also bet on columns or sections and they paid two to one.
Male: Do you guess what these are here mister smarty fans.
Jeff Colt: Actually they are slacks and yes, sections, columns.
Mike: Oh let's see if you can match that with a lucky play, because that is the rules of the game. Ladies and gentlemen place your bets.
Male: Play chips on the line it's me and you rookie.
Jeff Colt: Fine, fine. Get out of my way you love.
Mike: No more bets. It's 20.
Jeff Colt: Oh, who is the king, who is the king?
Male: Beginners luck.
Jeff Colt: I think I am ready for the big time now. Give me, give me these, 20 was lucky last—oh geez, I am sorry.
Lady Luck: Oh Jeff.
Male: Oh Jeff.
Jeff Colt: Thank you, you just couldn’t leave that one alone could you? Thank you. I’ll catch up. Thank you.
Dana West: Well that’s the all around on roulette, the only question I have is what I am going to do with my big win.
Brian Tracey: How about a modern home or something like that.
Dana West: That sounds good, doesn’t it? Well actually, I was dreaming about this fabulous boots. Oh, I just have to have them.
Brian Tracey: Well, whatever you dreams are remember dreams do come true in Vegas so get out there and play.
Dana West: With Brian Tracey, I am Dana West you remember it's a playground out there. There is no curfew so come out and play.
Brian West: Okay, are you ready? Hit it.
Dana West: Wild Card.
Brian West: Wild Card.
