Alright, so this is the second half of the “Settle for a Slowdown” lesson is in standard tuning version. Ok, so we’re back in standard tuning. We have our capo on the 3rd fret, ok. Now, with the capo on the 3rd fret, the intro is going to different than before. So with the capo on the 3rd fret, we’re going to try this. On the five string which is you A string and one, two, three, four, five, ok. You’re going to play two, above the capo, two, four, five, okay, then 0, two, three. That last three is on the E string. So, two, four, five, 0, two, that’s all on the five string, and the sixth string, 3rd fret finish it, ok. Second time through on the five string, two, four, five, then you’re going to play open, four string, then four, two on the A string. So it sounds like this [Demonstration] ok. So it’s your pick when you’re going to play drum, you’re going to play like this.
Now, for this one, the chords you’re going to use, you’re going to start out the first verse in a Bm, ok. So Bm, go up here two frets above the capo, so one, two, bar across the bottom five strings, alright. Put your middle finger on the two strings, 3rd fret above the capo, ring and pinky, 4th fret above the capo, on the two middle strings, three and four. Pinky is on three, ring is on four, ok. And you’re going to play [Demonstration] G to Bm, B minor, down, down, up, down, down, up to D, up, up, down, up, down, down, up, to G, down, down, up, down, down, up, up, down, up, down, ok.
So we’ll try it again, on the B minor, down, down, up, down, down, up, switch to D, up, up, down, up, down, down, up, to G, down, down, up, down, down, up, up, down, up, down. Now for those two strum patterns I gave you, the first time and second time is different a little bit, it doesn’t matter. Either one of them will work as long as you fit it to the rhythm.
So I’m going to play it through one more time just so you kind of get it. So starting with Bm [Demonstration]. So that’s for the first two times through.
The third time through is “standing there in your review is a D chord, standing, down, down, up, down to A there, so down. So it’s got a D standing [Demonstration]. Yeah, you just use the same strum pattern that we did on the first two lines. So the third time through which was a D standing A there and your review as a G. It’s getting soaked to the bone, back to the B minor, getting soaked to the bone [Demonstration]. That’s it for the first verse.
The second verse starts, this line is flat as it is mean, which is Bm, to D, to G, just like the beginning, second time through, B minor to A, to D, back to G. That A, it says B minor, that “A man can see for a 100 miles”, It said Bm, A. You can leave that A out, ok. So where it says “A man can see for a 100 miles”, it has Bm and A. If it’s not there, it means I deleted it. But if it’s there, it means I just forgot to delete it when I uploaded this video so you just leave that A. I don’t play it.
Now the chorus, ok, “But your wheels just turn” is a D [Demonstration]. The strum pattern I’m using is universal on it. You’ll see a lot. It’s just down, down, up, down, down, up, up, down, up, down, switch to B minor, down, down, up, down, down, up, up, down, up, down, to the G, down, down, up, down, down, up, up, down, up, down, to A, down, down, up, down, down, up, up, down, up, down.
Alright, then you have that little solo in there which I didn’t learn or look up. I’ll see if I can find it but probably I won’t have it in the video lesson to be honest with you. And then there’s really, I guess you would say with the “I know there's nothing stopping you now, but I'd settle for a slowdown”, I guess you could call that the bridge maybe? No actually, no it’s in here twice. But, “I know there's nothing stopping you now”, it’s an Em. ““I know there's nothing” to a D/Fb. Ok, E minor is this. You know that an E minor is this. A D/Fb all means is the D chord but your base note, instead of being a Dm, which means you just play the bottom four, it’s an F sharp, which means you come up here to the sixth string. You put it and open as an E, 1st fret being an F, F b. So your base note is second fret on the low E, sixth string, ok, so the thumb gets it. That’s your D/F sharp.
That’s really it. I’ll play it through the first really quick, and the chorus. The chorus is really high so you have to bear with me, but
[Singing]
Second verse is just like the verse. I’m going to skip to the chorus. So this is really high
[Singing]
