Hey guys, it’s Aaron. Just a quick song that I’m dedicating to my buddy Cody Chen. He did a very, wrote me a very nice email. I really appreciate it and I had a really good story behind it. He asked me to play this song, so I just lost my pick. I’m not going to search for it but we’re going to start out this song. It’s called Sing Me Back Home by Mearle Haggard.
The main things that I want to show you in it, is the chord progressions and then everything else, you could figure it out. I played this song along with, I played the chords along with this song. The one thing I found out is that I like it with all the down strums, alright. So I’m going to take you through the verse. The verse makeup alternates the first like through is an A, to an E, to a D, to an A. Each would be eight down beats. So an A, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, E… D… to an A…
This second time through “I stood up to say goodbye like all the rest” is just A… for 16… so count eight twice… you can do an E for 16… Third line, “And I heard him tell the warden just before he reached my cell”, that’s A… just for eight… just like the first line… to E, for eight… to D… to A…
And the last one, “Let my guitar playing friend do my request”, it’s just an A… for eight, an E, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, and then A again for eight… that’s the verse.
When you get into the chorus, it’s really the same as the verse. The progression is still A for eight beats… E for eight beats… to D for eight beats… to A for eight beats… that’s the first line. Second line, A for eight beats… I’m sorry, for 16 beats… E for 16 beats… and then, yeah I mean, the rest of the chorus is just like the first. So check out the tab I give you.
Cody Chen, hope that lesson, man I know it’s kind of short but hope it helped. And hope you can learn it and you know, for the treasons that you talked about in email, and the rest of you guys, good luck learning in standard tuning. Check out the tab in the info box. To make sure, you check out freeandeasyguitar.com. And good luck. Keep learning the guitar guys. See you.
