How to Play Slide Guitar Repeating Licks
Hey, this is Joe with learning guitar now and this is how to do repeating licks. So, repeating licks and a slide just do the same thing over and over again. I’ll give you examples. These are going to be in the key of the D so repeating licks.
[Demonstration]
So repeating licks draw a lot of tension before you move to a note, so it’s called new repeating licks like behind the slide as they call it.
[Demonstration]
So the 13th fret key of D, G sharp string, B string.
[Demonstration]
So, you’ve got a repeating lick even just doing the same lick.
[Demonstration]
That’s 10 to 9, I already counted the grooves, and it sounds cool.
[Demonstration]
So you just want to create a bunch of different repeating type of licks that you can do to create tension, 10th fret in D.
[Demonstration]
And slide to one note.
[Demonstration]
And slow.
[Demonstration]
So, it’s called Allman brothers. Their track tends to build tension if you’re right here on major type sound. It is often used in an Allman Brother style.
[Demonstration]
That’s D major.
[Demonstration]
So that’s kind of major type licks you can do, just repeat, be sure you can take a lick and repeat over and over again.
[Demonstration]
So just by doing that repeating, it creates a lot of tension than you’re moving to a next phrase or melody.
[Demonstration]
That’s it for this lesson on repeating licks. So next time you’re in a jam session or a jamming room and slide a guitar or trying to improvise make sure to put your some repeating type licks in between your phrases and your melodies and they’ll create a lot of tension to late listeners. Jump out and hear what you are saying and also it draws attention to the ear. It kind of creates some kind of uncomfortable doing that over and over again and then you hear that resolution. You’re going definitely feel the movement and the power of the phrase that you’re trying to put through.
So that’s it for this lesson, work on doing that and as always you can check out more how-to’s in learningguitarnow.com. There is also the DVD and some downloadable lesson and you can check out if you have any questions. You can email me at info@learningguitarnow.com and we’ll see you next time.
