All right so now we are up to our 2nd 12th bar solo. This solo contains 7 licks. So if you want to check it out with the backing track and then we will break it down.
So now we are soloing over the 2nd 12th bar round here. Our first lick will take us to the first four bars it sounds like this.
A classic idea taken from Hendrix’s version of “Red House”. Something very similar to that anyway. What I am doing is starting of by outlining notes from the B7 chord, from sliding in to the 11th fret of the G string and then play 11 on the high E, 10 on the B string. Play those three notes four times.
Now move that back one fret just take that same chord shape and move it down one fret and play these three notes four times same picking pattern back up one fret play these three notes four times. Now I am going to play some double stops, the 15th fret on the B string, 14th fret on the high E string.
Now I am going to play that 6 times. 1 and the 2 and the 3 and then I am going to play another double stop 16th fret of the B,17th fret on the high E string I will play this 5 times. Now I will give us the entire first lick. So here it is I will count you in try playing along with me. 1, 2, 3, 4.
Lick number two starts off from the 3rd beat of measure number 5 and this going to start off with some double staff and there you are going to have a big flurry of notes the whole bunch of notes so the phrase sounds like this. 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2.
So I am starting of with the 9th fret of the B string, 10th fret of the high E string. I will play those two notes two times and this is on the top part of an E7 chord. Now I am going to play the 7th fret of the G string along with the 7th fret of the B string play those two notes two times.
So far we have done this. Now here comes the big flurry of notes we are going to start off bending the whole step from the 9th fret of the G string and then grab 7 on the B, 7 on the high E, 7 on the B then 10 on the B at a whole step grab 7 on the high E, 7 on the B. Now 9 on the high E. hammer on pull offs not 7 9 back to 7 on the high E, 7 on the B. Move scale now pull off 10, 9, 7 on the G string.
Now, we are going to tilt it with the third finger 9th fret D string, 9th fret G back to 9 D and then we are going to hammer on from 7 to 8 on the G pull off back to 7 and that is the whole idea.
Immediately following this we are going to be in the lick number three. So, here we are combining notes from B major pentatonic and B minor pentatonic primarily going with B major pentatonic at this point of the solo.
I am going to start off I have shifted positions 4th finger placed the 7th fret of the B string. I am going to do a pre bend of the half staff from the 6th fret of the G string so bend up straight that note and then release the bend pulling off to the 4rth fret of the G string. Now grab 6 on the D string hammer on 5 to 6 on the A string back to 4 on the G string slide from 6 to 4 on the A string and then pull of to 2. So far we have done this.
Now I am going to climb my way back up to B Major pentatonic scale starting on the 4th fret of the low E string, 2nd fret A string, slide 4 to 6 hammer on 4 to 6 on the D string, 4 to 6 slide up to 8 on the G string and then I will going to hammer on 7, 8, 9 on the B string and play 7 on the high E string. So here is lick number three once again. So let us go back a little bit and play the licks two and three together. 1, 2.
Number four is similar to lick number three we are going to climb our way up a B Major pentatonic scale a little bit of chromaticism thrown in there but now we are going to start on the 7th fret of the low E string an the lick sounds like this. 1, 2, 3, 4.
So here I am starting off on the 7th fret of the low E string, slide 9 to 11 on the low E, 9 11 on the A string, 9 11 slide the 13 on the D string chromatic on the G string 11, 12, l3, 12 on the B bend up a whole step from the 14th fret of the B string. Now we are going to stay here on the 14th fret of the B string and here is lick number 5. 1, 2, 3, 4.
So here I bend up a whole step from the 14th
