How to Play Swim the Islands

This next exercise uses hoops as a variation of musical chairs, and the children are instructed to think of the hoops as islands. An option to music is for the teacher to specify a length of time, such as 15 seconds. The children will become more aware of how long 15 seconds actually is, because at the end of 15 seconds, the teacher will call out, stop. Set up one less hoop as there are children, and the objective of the game is for the children to swim as quickly as possible in between the islands, only to stop and jump onto an island when the time is up. And like musical chairs, only allow one child on each island.
