Hi there welcome to another one of my easy to play lessons. If you have not been over to my website yet, it is www.mrmusiccanada.com, mrmusiccanada is all one word. Okay today I am going to show you how to play a nice easy version of the theme from The Godfather. Okay do you remember the song? It goes like this.
[Demonstration]
Okay so during the first part of the song, we are going to only use three chords, okay we will go through them first. We are going to use a Gm okay? If you remember the G chord that we have used here, here goes the G chord. We are going to use a minor in this song so you will take your middle finger over down to this B flat. That is going to give you a Gm chord. Okay?
We are also going to play Cm, so going down here to C. Here is your right in your C, remember? Move your middle finger down to this E flat, that will give you a Cm chord and at some point during the song we are going to play the Cm this way or you might want to play it up here which is just the same keys, right? We are going to use this because it is easier here to get from your Gm to your Cm if you want to use it that way, or you can catch it down, play it down here too, that is all right.
And here is one of the chords that we are going to use which is a D okay. So you have your D note here. We are going to go up to this black note and we are going to use our A here. Okay so that is your D chord. Okay so just to go through those again, you have got a Gm, you have got a Cm. I am going to play it that way or we move these two fingers up here and play it that way and we also have the D chord.
So those are chords we are using. Okay and then moving into our right hand, we are going to start off with this D note here so you are playing that. Okay and then right here we are going to go here, to that black note, back up to it, down to this black note.
[Demonstration]
Okay, fingers out of the way so you can see it a little easier. Okay let us go through it again. Let us do it again. Okay I am just going to use one finger. It is easier to see which black notes I am hitting, okay?
Go up to here. Okay a little easier to see that way I guess. Do not use those fingers, it will be harder for you but to show you it is a little easier. Okay, I will do it one more time.
[Demonstration]
Okay and doing a chord with that, we are going to start off with a Gm chord, so we hit it, hit your Gm. So now we are going to play a Cm so just move—we are going to play it this way this time okay? There is your Gm, there is your Cm, right, these three notes. Okay so we are going to just go through Gm to a Cm and then back again. It is a little easier to move, short distances like—okay let is start it over from the beginning.
Gm, Cm, come back to your Gm again okay so you could see how that right is Gm, just the one here, Gm.
[Demonstration]
Okay let us just try it one more time.
[Demonstration]
Cm. Okay? And then actually you play that through twice except for the last note will change the second time through. We are actually going to end the second time on a C note down here. Okay so let us go through that part twice and we will do the different ending of the second time okay? So we are going with a Gm chord, okay to start. We go up here on this D note, okay? Gm, Cm and I will have to get Gm. Okay the second time through, Gm again, Cm, keep your Cm but end your right hand on this C note okay? Okay so let us go through it one more time, okay.
[Demonstration]
Gm. second time through.
[Demonstration]
Cm. Okay so that is the first half of the song. Okay and moving into the next section, very simple again. Okay so we are starting off with our Cm chord and we are going to drop down to our Gm. Okay that is the minor, Gm. Practice that a little, just slide down there. Your little finger is not going to change this too.
With our right hand we are starting on our C, okay? And the second time through is seamier. I will go with this black note. Okay, let us do that again just with that right hand.
[Demo]
Okay, chord wise, here is your Cm and this drop down to our Gm r
