Anywhere you see in this line of axis two on that means at that point, you should switch back to your E-chord. I just think that makes a little easier. So and you see lots of axis switch back on E- chord. So first one is we have intro. The first line sounds like this.
[Demonstration]
Okay, a little mistake there at the beginning. Just follow the tab, don’t worry about how I play it all. Just pull this tab. The second line of the tab, I want you to—so let’s going to start off with this—
[Demonstration]
Okay, after that slide string, back on to the E—
[Demonstration]
Okay that’s the second line on the tab. Remember, follow the tabs. If they are correct even if you think you see me playing something different here, play what’s on the tab. The third one to tab—
[Demonstration]
Okay, that’s the third one and the fourth one—
[Demonstration]
Okay that’s the fourth one. Check out the video too for the chords. They are all bar chords and they are pretty easy to play once you get used to you know in your head, remember the transitions. So Joe Garcia, thanks again man, awesome. I really appreciate it and this is something that I may have for a long time. So I will play and never get rid of it, so it’s a great guitar it sounds gorgeous. The bass is just unbelievable. Joe, thanks a lot men and I hope you enjoy the lessons guys, check out lesson part 2 and remember freeandeasyguitar.com. Check it out.
Hey! Everybody its Aaron. Now this is the second part of the lesson 1 Under the Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers. One of my brand new Seagull guitar at six model that Joe Garcia from California. So I appreciated Joe. He’s awesome, a gesture man and it really means a lot. So it’s well appreciated and I’m looking forward on playing it for a long time so it has a really great sounds.
But I just thought a lesson on the intro, kind of picking to Under the Bridge. Now this tab I have for you guys is all bar chords. The one thing I want you to realize is the reason that my capo is on the 2nd fret is because that is how I thought the intro.
[Demonstration]
Like that on the first recorded video. One thing I want you to realize is in these bar chords, I’m going to show you for the verse and the chorus. Everything in these chords takes place above the 2ndfret. What that means is if the first bar chord on playing is an E/B which means the B bar code with the E bass note, what that means is—say this is the chord here, 7th fret and you bar cross all six and you do with many bar there—here on the 9th fret.
[Demonstration]
Okay that is the first chord—
[Demonstration]
Now the one thing I want you to realize is, it does not matter whether my capo is on and off. If it’s the same chord; you can put it up here.
[Demonstration]
It’s the same chord. So what I’m trying to say about that is whether you a capo one because you just play the intro like that or you don’t have to put the intro. You just want to strum the chords. It doesn’t matter if you are in the capo one for the strumming of these chords. If you’re playing that with a capo, if you’re playing the intro to picking, you have to have had a capo on the 2nd fret or you’ll have to just use your finger as a bar and then adjust.
So I’m going to teach you with the capo only for the purpose. That is how I thought the intro. So if you’re looking at this video, you didn’t see the intro video, you don’t have to capo, you don’t need one to strum these chords.
All right so in the tab, I have all the chords, the very top and then in the next section, I have just the chords that apply to that verse. So the verse is, I have sections as chord using verses, chords using chorus because it is easier for you to look at them and figure out the progressions instead you’ve seen all across because these are chords that you probably not use to it since these are all bar chords and variations.
So for the verse it sounds a little something like this—
[Demonstration]
Okay the next thing is a one strum—
[Demonstration]
Okay so what I want you to do is I want you to start by your pointer finger on the 7th fret bar across all the strings. Okay every last one of it, and then I want you to take your ring finger on the 9th fret and bar the, two, three, four strings.
[Demonstration]
It does not matter if you need that high E, it’s the one string. Don’t worry about it. Just try and do this.
[Demonstration]
If you have trouble and you can’t get that bar just put your ring and pinky on the 9th fret of the two little strings and just don’t worry about the two strings. So if you want to play this way, just put your bar across all six string, 7th fret and then ring and pinky 9th fret, two middle strings, your three and four. But if you can it sounds a little better if you bar and you cover on the 9th fret with your two, three, and four strings. So that’s your first chord—
[Demonstration]
I used and play down up, and then muted in my palm, it doesn’t matter you can just play it down and you can play—
[Demonstration]
It is all up to you getting the rhythm of the song. But that’s the first chord, all right.
[Demonstration]
Now from there, you really have a good transition because you are already barring across the 7th fret which is what you need. So what you need to do here is take this ring finger and move it up to five string 9th fret.
So either way you’re going to have to move it up from where it was before on the four string to the five string in the second chord. Pinky goes right behind it on the fourth string, and then your middle finger is going to go on the three strings on the 8th fret okay, so you have seven, nine, nine, eight, seven, seven. That’s your second chord.
[Demonstration]
That is the B chord,
[Demonstration]
Okay from here, you’re going to make a really easy transition. You just slide up everything up to two frets and take your middle finger off, so this is your B—
[Demonstration]
And I’m moving up to I’m sorry D flat minor sorry about that, D flat minor. You slide it two frets the second chord here is B chord I just thought, slide everything at two frets take this middle finger off.
[Demonstration]
After you play that, you’re going to slide this bar all the way down to the 4th fret. Now I’m saying 4th fret because like I said earlier, you can place without the capo, that’s why I’m preferring to is four. Because I don’t want you to focus on the capo I just want you to focus for this lesson on the actual fret okay. So on the 4th fret, you’re going to play one strum—
[Demonstration]
And you’re using the same position as you work here on a 9th fret you just slide everything down to the 4th fret one strum. Slide everything at one fret, two bars across the 5th, put your middle finger down and this is the last strum okay. So—
[Demonstration]
Mute it, switch to the second chord—
[Demonstration]
And that is your verse. At the end of the first verse and the second verses, you will see what is called an EM7and that is kind of a neat sounding chord. All you’re going to do for that is bar across the button on five strings on your 7th fret, your middle finger is going to go on your three strings on the 8th fret, and then your ring and pinky are going to go on the—your ring is going to go on the fourth string. Your pinky goes on two strings on a 9th fret. Okay it sounds like this.
[Demonstration]
