Hi! I’m Danny Gill from Lick Library. And in this lesson, we’re going to concentrate on using the pick and some other fingers of the picking hand. In this case, the middle finger. All right, here is the ideas that were going to learn, it goes like this.
[Demonstration]
So the idea here is that every time we play on the G-string we are going to use the middle finger. Otherwise, will be using the pick. Starting of on the A-string, we’ll strike that open. Hammer on three to four. With the middle finger, grab the second fret of the G-string back to the D-string 4th fret, pull of to the open string, 4th fret slide to the 5th fret. The middle finger will grab the G-string open. Back to the D-string 4th fret pull off to the open string. On the A-string hammer on three to four, G-string 2nd fret, we’ll grab that with the middle finger. And then at 4th fret pulling off to the D-string. So here is what we’ve done so far.
[Demonstration]
And here is the next phrase.
[Demonstration]
Just at a slightly different ending. So we’ll start off on the A-string open, three hammer onto four. Middle finger grabs the second fret of the G-string. D-string 4 to the open string, slide from 4 to 5 on the D-string, G-string open, four pull off to the open D-string, back to the 3rd fret of the A-string. Now we’re going to slide in to the 6th fret of the G-string, pull off to the open G. We’ll do this with the middle finger followed by the 5th fret of the D-string. So here is the phrase that we’ve just learned.
[Demonstration]
The next phrase is the same as the first phrase. And now, here is the ending.
[Demonstration]
So work in our way of with the A-string and start open 4th fret, open to the 5th fret, open to the 6th fret, open to the 7th fret. Now to the D-string, 5th fret to the open string, followed by the 6th fret of the D string. And now I’ll play an A7 chord 5th fret on the D-string, 6th fret on the G-string. Here is our final phrase once again.
[Demonstration]
All right now, let us put all that together and a little faster.
[Demonstration]
So there is an idea using pick along with the middle finger. So you can experiment with that by coming up a lot cool stuff on your own. Hope that lesson helps out.
