This is Andy Jones from licklibrary.com. Today, we are going to be looking at incorporating a chromatic idea within the pentatonic scale. I am just going to play the lick for you and I will break it down, so here it is. Okay so this lick, which is going to be used in the first position E minor pentatonic scale, we are going to start off by playing the 13th fret on the high E string and this is going to be the patent for the first string. So starting on 13 we have 13, 15, 14, 13 then we have 12,14, 13, 12, we are using ultimate picking with the right hand so starting with a down stroke everything is going to be down up down up.
Okay, now we are going to be moving to the 15th fret on the bass string and we are going to have 15, 13, and 12 on the high. Then we are going to have 15, 14 on the B, 12 on the high, 15, 14, 13 on the B. Okay, so far this is what we have. Okay, and then when we get to 13 on the B we are just basically going to repeat the same thing again. But starting from the B string moving to the G string, so we have this. Starting on 13, we have 13, 15, 14, 13, 12 on the B so when we get to the 12th fret on the G string we are going to be playing 14, 13, 12 again on the G. Then we are going to have four C on the D 13, 12 on the G string then 14, 13 on the D.
Like that, so far, we should have this slight tempo. Then when we get there, we are just going to do this. So we are going to have 14, 13, 12 on the G same on the D, repeat the D, same on the A repeat on the A and then to finish off we are going to have 15 to 12 on the lower E. So the whole lick slow should sound like this. And here it is once more up to speed.
Okay well that is the lesson for today, until next time. Keep strumming.
