Hi! This is Andy James from LickLibrary.com. In this tutorial, we are going to be looking at tapping using the major scale. I am just going to play the lick. We are going to look at it today and then break it down so here it is.
Okay, with this lick, we are using a D major scale. If we were going to play it just with our left hand, this is what it will look like. Okay, what we are going to do is we are hamming on the first two notes and then tapping the third and then we are using the string skipping as well. For the first part, we are going to hammer on from ten to twelve and then tap 14 on the right hand.
Skip over the A string and play 11, 12, 14 on the D. And then, we are going to pull up going down again so 14 to 12 to 11 so we have got this. Then, we are going to have 14, pull off to 12, pull off 10 on the A. Then, hammer on 12, hammer on top 14 so and then we are going to skip over the D string and play the G, 11, 12 and then tap 14 so we have got this.
Okay, before we go in further. I am actually headband on the guitar that can help with licks like this because sometimes it is very hard to come with this palming. And, while doing this kind of thing which can create little noises that you do not want. So, you got a headband lying around then you can put on your guitar so it helps.
Okay, the next part is we are going to go the D string and pretty much stuff about tap again so we have got this. That is the first part and then this. So, it is the same thing but I am going to go 11, 12, tap 14 on the D, skip over the G and play 12, 14, tap 15 and pull off. Then, we have got 14, pull off to 12, pull off to 11 on the G, hammer on, tap, and then skip over and play 12, 14, 15 on high. So, far we have got this.
Then, for the next part, we are going to go back down to the tenth fret on the E again and play. So, the first part but we are not skipping over some. We are just playing 10, 12, tap 14 and then the same on the A. And then, we are going to move to the D string, play 12, 14, tap 16 then to the G, do the same. But then, we are going pull up and come down again so we have got 16, pull off to 14, pull off 12, same on the D and then back up so again.
That second part of the lick should sound like this. And then, we are going to move to the B string, play 15, 17 and then tap 19, same on the E and then pull off to come down so that is 19, 17, pull off to 15 and then do the same with G. And then, we are just finishing on the D. The whole so slow should sound like this. And up to speed.
Okay, that it is for today’s tutorial. I hope you got fun learning in the lick and until next time. I will see you later.
