How to Play an E minor Pentatonic Run using String Skipping
Hi, this is Andy James from licklibrary.com. In today’s lesson, we are going to be looking at string skipping through pentatonic scale. Here is the lick and I will break them down.
Okay, we are going to be starting this lick in the first position in E minor pentatonic. On the 12th fret, we are going to have 12 to 15, skip of the A string and play 12 to 14 on the D. So we have got. When we get to 14, we are going to pull of again to 12 on the D. Then 14, pull off to 12 on the A, prime on to 14 on the A. Skip probably to the D string and play 12 to 14 on the G. So, so far at a slow tempo, we should have this.
Then we are going to start the lick again with that same pattern but from the 12th fret of the D string. So we are going to have 12 to 14 on the D. Skip over the G string and play 12 to 15 on the B. Then from 15, pull off the 12 on the B. 14 pull off to 12, hammer on to 14 on the G. Skip over the B string and then play 12 to 15. So, so far, we should have this.
Then to finish of the lick, we are going to do this. Which uses 12 to 15 on the 12 to 14 on the D, 12 to 14 on the A, 7 on the G, then back to the D, 12 to 15 on the B, then bend that 15 whole step on the B string. And then play it to 15th fret on high as well. Okay so at slow tempo, it should sound like this.
Okay, well that is it for today’s tutorial. Thanks for watching.
