Hi, this is Andy Jones from licklibrary.com. On this tutorial, we are going to be looking at pentatonic lick using hybrid picking. Now, let me just explain a little bit about that. The lick that I am going to be doing is D minor first position up on the 12th fret and I am going to be using my pick, my thumb and first finger holding the pick and then my middle finger on my right hand to pick some of the other notes. So let me just play the lick for you and then we would break it down.
Okay, so we are going to start this lick off by playing 12, hammer on to 14 on the G then 15 on the B with the middle finger on the right hand. Repeat the 12 to 14, hammer on the G then play 14 on the B with the middle finger. Then repeat the G string lick again and then play the 12th fret on the B. So we have there on the last time around we are going to be playing 14, pull off to 12 then hammer back on to 14.
Then we are going to play 15, 14 and then 12 on the high E string using the same hammer on the 12 to 14 on the G. So we have this. Okay then, after that, we are going to play 14, pull off to 12 on the G and then repeat on the first part of the 12 on the lick again. So far we should have this. Then when we finish on 12 on the B, we have 14 pull off to 12 on the G then 14, pull off to 12 on the D and then hammer on or just pick 14 on the D and it is finished. So that lick should look like this, and up to speed.
Okay, well that is the end of the lesson today. I hope you have fun learning that hybrid picking technique. Until next time, I will see you later.
