In order to play chords in the song, if you wanted to vamp along (guitar strumming) you have to learn a new chord. We have this chord in some of the other songs, but, it has been so short that we have not really think about it (music playing).
‘Down the Road’ has a quick E-minor (music playing). You barely know it and so this cumbering gap (music playing). But, if I hem on break down, you will get a nice long E-minor (music playing). That is an E-minor.
So, let us talk about how you will play in E-minor shape if you want to play the chords (music playing). From your basic F-shape, you are going to make one little change. If you know about the chord structure, you will know that you have to changed the third of the chord and lower the third of the chord one note, in order to make a major into a minor. I do not to get into that right now, because we do not have that much time. But, if you already understand some of that (music playing) you will know what is happening.
Just if you know the chord though, this will work. From this shape, it is an F shape, but I am playing G for it (music playing). I am going to move my middle finger note down by barring across at my index finger (music playing), major (music playing), minor (music playing).
From this shape (music playing) the B shape (music playing), I have to move two knots, they will have to come down (music playing), so I have to re-finger the whole thing. It will look like this (music playing), major (music playing), minor (music playing). From the bar shape (music playing), I have to move this note down, well now I cannot use a whole bar. I have to change (music playing) the way I finger it and it looks like this (music playing), major (music playing), minor (music playing).
There is only three basic chords, so we will have three basic minor chords. There is a whole pack of things that you have to know about major chords or minor chords and minor chords. You do not typically go from G-major to G-minor.
You usually go from G-major to E-minor (music playing), this is called the relative minor. It is called the relative minor, because it is a relative. They are very similar (music playing) and share lot of notes. They have a very similar sounds (music playing), so, if this is G-major (music playing), its relative minor is here (music playing) and that is E-minor (music playing). From this shape (music playing), you will get the relative minor (music playing) by moving that finger (music playing).
Now, we will move from D to B-minor (music playing). From the bar shape (music playing), you just have to change and keep that part (music playing) and add two notes (music playing). So this is (music playing). For G-minor, the G, D, E minor up here (music playing), you will have this (music playing).
We also have down the neck (music playing) there. So, it is just handy to know (music playing) because that is what we do most often (music playing) when you go between the major chord and the minor chord, that is where you will find it.
