So, now let us learn our next song. This is called “The Worried Man Blues”. The basic melody goes like this. (Music playing). There it is, notice that as I’m playing the melody sometimes I heat repeated notes. And that happened also in Bile’em Cabbage Down at the ending.
(Music playing) When we add our rhythm in, we don’t necessary need hit all of those repeated notes remember in the song there may be different numbers of words in the given line from one verse to the next, and when we played on the banjo we’re going to approximate the melody and if we change the number of syllables on a given note, that is okay.
And we go along now we do want to think about the melody. I am trying to do put this course together so that you hear the melody as well as the arrangement that goes with.
So, we’ll try this Worried Man Blues now with the rhythm, also and I will use a little bit a boom cheek boom as well as the boom cheek a boom, but you can try playing it both ways separately but all the way through boom cheek boom and played it all the way through with boom cheek a boom and then mix it up.
(Music playing) So, we’re going to try playing our song with resonance. The first line goes like this with just the melody. (Music playing) So here is the Worried Man Blues all the way through with some rolls and gallops and everything.
(Music playing) Alright, now we’ll try putting everything in there. You know there is going to be a pick up on this one too, leading into the beginning of the song.
(Music playing)
So, now we will try just a little slower.(Music playing). Now something happen coming out of the C chord and there I want to talk about. (Music playing) When I lift up my ring finger right before the end of the C chord to lead into the next measure (Music playing) and notice I lift up only my ring finger and then lift up the rest of the other fingers and give a nice solid connection don’t stop between the measures.
(Music playing) Do not stop here and then play it is got a connect. (Music playing) When you lift up the one that is a little bit tricky practicing with in that one finger on the chord and then the rest but it is something you end up doing so often that is worth spending the time to practice.
Now, we’re just going to play the rhythm, just the basic rhythm with pinches to this chord is, so you know how to play back up to the song. (Music playing) There you have it, today; you have learned how to play just the rhythm and chord to the song.
