Hi! I am Bob from Toronto, Canada. This guitar lesson is about how to play two to recorder or keyboard intro to “Stairway to Heaven” as I have transcribed it for the guitar as I play it in my YouTube video, Stairway to Heaven played on two guitars.
First, I will play it along with the backing guitar track to demonstrate how it should sound and then I will explain how to play it note for note. This is how it should sound.
Most of it is played on the bottom three strings. First chord is like an A Minor, so third string second fret, second string first fret and open bottom string. Next, on third string just move it down one fret and then play in open string on the third string, same thing.
Next chord is like a D, but adjust it at the fourth string fourth fret. Then it is like an F but with the open bottom first string. Then you slide up like this which is the bottom string, third and fifth fret and the fourth string, fifth and seventh frets at the same time.
Then still on the bottom three strings, it is open C chord, so the second string first fret, play the rest open. Then it is the E chord. Then slide back D chord up three frets. Then it is bottom string third fret, second string fifth fret. Slide that down two frets and add the third string fourth fret.
Then A Minor which was the same as the first chord and you move the third string to the third fret position. Third fret bottom two strings and the third string fourth fret. And the second string fifth fret, third string fifth fret, bottom string third fret and the same as the chord before that, G then the D, pull off on the first string third fret.
Open third string and first string.Then fifth fret on the first string, third string and first string third fret, third string fourth fret. Play it twice. Third string second fret, first string second fret, open again on the third and first strings.
That is the second string third fret, third string second fret. And slide up to the D position but in the fifth fret and as the first string eighth fret, second string tenth fret. Second string seventh fret, second string eighth fret then slide up again to that chord before but add the third string ninth fret.
And the same finger position slide up two frets to the tenth and pull off, the bottom two strings. Then it is a D position chord played at the top fret position. And the bottom two strings at the tenth fret, third string of eighth fret.
The first string third fret, second string fifth fret, third string fifth fret and add the bottom string fifth fret. And that is it.
