Hey, this is John Tuggle with Learning Guitar Now. And this little video, I’m going to show you a little bit about the BB King Style. I have another video about BB King and I’m going to show you a little extension about that lesson, it’s where you can have another place you play BB King Style licks. And this is in the key of A. We’re going to start on the 7th fret of the D string, the third finger, key of A, the you go 5th fret, G string, first finger, 6th fret, G string. You can use the 7th fret, G string, first fret of the B string, 7th fret, B string, 5th fret, high string, 7th fret, high string. See all these patterns it goes like this, [Demonstration].
And you can do a lot of cool BB King Style licks with that little pattern there. It always start-off with lick chord [Demonstration].
So he’s just taking that little pattern—a lot of time start-off a blue song like that [Demonstration]. And it’s just a little positioned that he uses a lot. The position that he uses there a lot is the same little pattern. You’ve got all out 5th fret and your high with your first finger on the high E string. You can bend the 7th fret, 5-7-5 [Demonstration].
So you can produce some really BB King sound and licks right there, that little position, 5-7-5-7 and then you bend seven up. You play vibrato to the 5th fret, this is the key of A, and cut it off with your major six note on the 7th fret of the B string. You’ll hear that a lot. If you’re doing like a swing blues [Demonstration].
So you get the same little position there with your 7th fret [Demonstration]. All they called it, the F chord position [Demonstration]. We’ve got all the notes from my standard beginner guitar 101 F chord. So, that’s far as the chord moves to do to start-off a blues tune and start BB King [Demonstration[, with your seven, hammer on your minor third, major third, 5-6-5-7-5.
And then you combine your second position with it. You have lot of different licks and then you start just combining the minor pentatonic scale with that pattern, and the other BB little position and you’ve got just a tune of licks [Demonstration].
So, you’re just blending up two patterns together. It’s got the same notes, but I covered a little bit another lessons [Demonstration].
Well that’s just a little bit about—have a place some BB King Style licks in this little position which is you’ve got a lot of similar notes to the—there are other common when everybody usually plays the BB King Style with but you still have also give attack, lot of vibrato and a lot of fill [Demonstration] and a lot of cut off notes like that. And the major six is the great note at the end of the cut off note [Demonstration]. And then you just put a lot of fill on a motion to it. You may want to hit the strings kind of song [Demonstration].
So anyway, you can mess around with that little position, playing BB King Style blues guitar licks up there in the key of A. And that’s all for this little video lesson.
