Hey! I'm Nate Savage of GuitarLessons.com and that was the song “All Right Now” by Free or at least the intro riff, the main riff.
I'm going to teach you how to play that right now. So come down here, second fret, grab an A chord, and you’re going to take your pinky, lay it over the fifth fret on the E and B strings. That’s going to be your first chord, so give all those strings and strum.
[Demonstration]
Strum it one more time!
[Demonstration]
Then you’re going to move to this chord right here. Take your third finger fourth fret on your D string, second finger third fret on your B string--[Demonstration]. Go back to the first chord we had [Demonstration]. So that whole little phrase right there, it sounds like this--
[Demonstration]
The next part starts with the same chord that we did in the beginning, this one right here Demonstration] and we’re going to come and make this chord right here, right after that. Take your pinky on the fifth fret of your D string and your middle finger on the third fret of the D string [Demonstration]. You're going to slide your pinky down to one fret, that’s your next chord [Demonstration]. And then you’re going to go back to the original shape that we did [Demonstration].
So that’s the entire riff. There’s a little bit of variation on the right hand and I’ll show that to you right now. Then, we play the first one--
[Demonstration]
It's pretty straight ahead, the only difference between that one and the other one, is when you come to this shape right here with your pinky up on the fifth fret of the D string. And you’re going to do the strumming pattern right here [Demonstration], Down up down up down [Demonstration], same pattern on the next shape [Demonstration]. And just hit that A chord with your pinky up on the those two strings one more time to finish it up—
[Demonstration]
That’s it! Have fun with that and it's a really a good exercise for your index finger, my index finger is kind of feeling right now, so that’s good too.
