Your distance is too great... and your intial movement is body forward... your aggressor will discharge on first body movement. Knowing this you have to have him in closer or use a different tactic. If he is in closer, then you can move your body sideways, as suggested, taking away the target. Then disarming the aggressor. Also, in your video, as you back away, you are bring your feet together... this is a no-go. You must lower your base and shuffle out (much like a linebacker in side to side drills)... or at least take half steps to ensure balance. Bringing your feet together, as such, will possibly have you trip over yourself during the adrenal dump as you are creating distance. The Israeli C.Q. tactics you are using are good-to-go, but you HAVE to make sure that even the smallest details are perfect when teaching sidearm disarms. Fun to teach average Joe... but G.I. Joe needs every attention to detail.

I dont think this would work you are too far away from the attacker. He could pull the trigger in time
