Hey! Everybody I’m Dan Sindel and in today’s video segment, I’ll show you how cool it is to use notion music’s progression software. I use it to tab out a lot of my lessons for my students and in today’s segment what we’ll do is we’ll go through the five positions of the blue scale and I’ll demonstrate a whole bunch of cool features on the software for you.
To save time, I’ve already filled out most of the document. Let’s take a look at the first scale pattern. This starts out on the flat 7th degree. This next scale pattern starts out on the root note. This next scale pattern starts out on the flat 3rd degree and this next scale pattern starts out on the 4rth degree.
Now to show you guys just how easy it is to use a progression, let’s go ahead and we’ll fill out the next scale pattern starting that on the 5th degree. I’ll just go ahead and rename it for you, there you go.
Now it’s so simple about this is all you have to do on your keyboard is punch in the correct number of the fret you want. Place your mouse over the correct string, hit enter and in real time not only does it show up as tab but it will show up as a note value including an accidentals if in need.
So here we go we’re filling out the rest in the notes on the A string. Now let’s move up to the D string. We’ll punch in the number 12 and there you go, let’s punch in the number 13. Now let’s punch in the number 14, awesome. Let’s move up to the G string. Punch in the number 12, now the number 14. Now let’s move up to the B string. We’ll punch in the number 13, number 15, and number 16.
Now let’s move up to the high E string. We’ll punch in the number 12, we’ll put in the number 15 and that actually completes our scale pattern. Now let’s go ahead and we’ll grab our repeat sign. In that way, when we create a wave file it will repeat a couple of times for us. We’ll fix that one up. All right there you go. Let’s save the document and there you have it. As soon as you have your tab and notation the way you want it, all you have to do to play it back is come up to the top to the control panel and press play.
[Demonstration]
I really like the way the software plays through the repeats signs. That’s a really cool feature. Now the amp sound that we have was clean so why don’t we change it up by clicking the FX1 button at the bottom in the mixer and it brings up the revolver amp. This is a great software simulator of a lot of green amp models. You can tell where on the country leads sound right now and we have all kinds of different sounds to choose from. If we scroll to the top, you can see we actually have presets by Neil Sosa and Victor Wood.
And actually my favorite sound of the whole bunch right now is the Neil Sosa preset. It sounds great right out of the box. So let’s go ahead and use that for the next demonstration. That’s pretty cool too as you can actually change the tempo just by clicking the tempo button here and dragging it up to the top or anywhere in the actual document you want. You can increase the tempo so why don’t we play this back at a 120 beats per minute.
[Demonstration]
Hey! That sounds pretty good. Now what I like about the software as well that helps you practice is let’s say you get the scales down too the 120 beats per minute. You can come up here and you can erase the tempo to let’s say something like 144 beats per minute. That will present a new challenge for you and once you have that down, you can crank it all the way up to 208 if you want. That will definitely keep you busy for a while.
If you like to download this lessons and a lot more just, come on up to EZGTR.com and sign up for our news letter join the team and we’ll give you access to all kinds of cool stuff. And that will do it for today’s lesson and for limited time if you guys are interested I can actually get you a really good student discount on the progression software. All you have to do is go to notionmusic.com and put in the code EZGTR pro and check out and I can save $20.00. All right you guys we’ll see you soon.
