Female: So I have ripped the piece off, I have this nice little ball now, and here we have the pedal to the wheels, which controls the speed, which has the strings so I slow it down or make it little faster so it’s very simple. I can also use the handle just like that. So take a sponge, we wipe.
Female: It doesn’t have to be clean, just completely clean.
Female: Yes.
Female: Or do you put water on it?
Female I put, I mean I can modify this sponge a bit and I just kind of—
Female: Okay.
Female: A bit and take off any dust and grain that might be on it, okay, and then here is the fun part. Well, wipe your hands a bit and you want to start by centering the ball of clay, okay? Which is probably the hardest thing to learn when you’re beginning. So what you do, you kind hold the ball in place till with both of your hands. So I’m getting this part stay and completely still whereas this is controlling the movement.
So, this is more or less indigenized so what I do is I start off with I guess this cylindrical block, okay? And we want to make a cup. So what I’m going to do, I’m going to secure pierce inside with my thumbs just slowly and do it slowly to the camera. So pierce it, just until you reach, I guess you want to leave enough for a base, cause you’re going to be carving underneath you know.
You want to pierce all the way through also your left width you know. So once it’s been pierce you want to open it up, if you can thumb working it out,
Female: I think that’s what I find hardest is to get all sides even.
Female: Yeah.
Female: I’m looking at you and I’m panicking.
Female: There’s no need to panic.
Female: We’ve got, Lee.
Female: So what I’ve done now, I’ve pierced the inside, I form it up a bit, I’m going to smooth the bottom a bit too. Okay to make sure the bottom is nice and then what you’ll do—now we want to raise the wall. So you want to kind of pushing a bit, you want to grab some plate on the bottom and what I’m doing now I’m grabbing some plates on the bottom and
Female: Pushing it.
Female: I’m going to push it up. Okay?
Female: Yeah.
Female: And meanwhile with this hand, my hand that’s on the inside I’m going to push it off, push out the clay a bit. I’m going to start spinning out part of it to push it up and as I’m doing this, I’m going to slow down my wheel, because of center fuel force what happens if you’re too fast then your cylinder will end up going this.
