This is Carol Macht from Forever Yours in Glen Burney, Maryland. And I’m back with Carol George. We’re discussing how to preserve flowers. In this section, we’re going to be talking about the display. At this stage, you would have taken your stems and allow them to air-dry and we’re going to need those with kept that container. And of course, you’re going to have some of your greens and your other flowers which we’ll discussed a bit later.
We have to create a stand for the flowers to be able to stand by themselves because of course now you’re not holding them in your wedding anymore and they have to have stems that they can be permanently displayed in. We use an acrylic tube. This is a tube that we purchase from the hardware store. It’s hard acrylic tube. And this is going to be our stand that we can put a loamy in tube. Carol, if you want to show how we do that?
What Carol is going to be doing is gluing a piece of rose stem approximately the length of the loamy. She doesn’t have to worry about making the exactly the length because she can cut it better to size later. But she’s going to be gluing that onto that acrylic tube. And this is where aesthetic reasons, you want to have something that looks attractive and natural as supposed to an acrylic tube with the bottom of your bouquet. And she’s going to continue doing that working the stems all the way around, so that she’s got an interesting looking display that she can then attached some ribbon too. In the end, you’re going to have a stand that is completely surrounded by your stems and the ribbon is going to be wrapped around it.
While Carol is doing that, I’m going to quickly show what the loamy look before hand. We take a bit a moss. This is actual real preserved moss, and has been glued onto the loamy. And we feel this looks better if anybody ever sees through the flowers, we want them to see something green and natural inside the loamy. The construction that Carol is busy doing once it’s complete. Carol just put in there and we’ll show how the loamy looks when it’s in there. It’s going to be placed on the base, actually glued onto the based and it will be able to stand like that.
Next, we’re going to show how to actually put your flowers into the loamy and complete the display.
