Hey this Eric Sanders and I am speaking with you today regarding the coaches task list
and practice planner that we’ll be giving away for those that sign up for the newsletter for
us. If you’re interested in getting this tool, you can go to union county sports.com and
just go ahead and fill out your information and you’ll get an attachment sent to you
immediately with this task list and the reason we do this a lot of folks do watch my
videos in the Football Academy videos online and there’s a lot of newer coaches that
email me pretty much everyday asking about practice organization and how we handle
that and it just felt like this might be a useful thing for people to have and now they
would share it.
So here we go we’re going to quickly describe it and what we’ve got is just an Excel
Spreadsheet so if you’ve ever used Excel Before so it’s just usually used for math. We
use it for coaching and what we’ve got here is a list of all the tasks and the task tab and it
goes out and explains all of the different things that need to get taught before the season
really gets started. And so we have a block for blocking and you can see that there’s
pretty much most every type of block that you can get into there. We have a tackling area
that’s broken out by a defensive position and offensive play.
We have an area for task for running backs that goes through some of their technique and
then into their stance and start some alignment assignment. All of these types of things
are covered in each of these little areas so quarterback, offensive line, tight ends, flankers
or wide receivers depending on what you’ve got. Defensive tackles, defensive ends,
linebackers, cornerbacks and then it goes into an area for install for your offensive plays
and then obviously you can just change the names of the plays to whatever your play is.
You just put it right in there so same thing for defense and the same thing for special
teams and of this so you can personalize this and make it your own.
So here’s the concept behind this is that you know and I don’t know if you saw it or not
but we got down to a 180 tasks or 180 something tasks so that’s a lot of stuff to be done
over the course of several weeks and normally there’s about 20 coaching days. We’ve got
20 blocks in here and what you do is each night that you cover tasks you simply put a one
in there and I will start on highlighting or turning these total cells white and that means
I’ve covered it and I can get on to the next thing. Obviously some things need to be
covered more than ones so you can kind of keep up of that. But the game basically is to
try to turn as many things white as possible before kick off of the first game and I’ve just
found it.
This is a really good way to keep up with what I have accomplished and what I have done
too much of and what I haven’t done enough off so particularly handy as I go in to
planning out my practice that is kind of coming here and say you know what hasn’t been
knocked out quite yet so really very helpful. Each of the sheets where I have got a day
one day two so my practice planners and again I don’t think we revolutionize the game of
football but it’s just a down and dirty way for me to breakout what’s going to happen at
practice so I have a warm up offense if you got independent stations or individual station,
conditioning. All of the things that I’m going to do I document and then I just print this
off and head on to football with it and makes life quite a bit easier.
So I’m going to include this that way you can just kind of get an understanding of what
I’m doing here and of course that plays for the coaches breakouts and you know
subcategories for each thing and it’s broken down by time. So it’s very helpful. I also
have a lot a little first half second half you know position assigner so I know who’s
supposed to go where so when you combine these three of these it could be very helpful
you may recognize some of these tasks from the videos. We do a lot of this type of stuff
and if you sign up for the newsletter you got a little information each day or regarding
preparation for the season and hopefully you’ll find that very helpful so we appreciate
your time in listening.
And if you’re interested in getting a copy of this sent to you just go ahead to
unioncountysports.com to fill out your information and it will be in your email box
within a minute or two. Okay, good luck to this season and to everybody and thanks for
watching.
