How to Prepare Fuel For Snow Fires

Male: How much wood do we have here Ali? Ali: We have enough for about one hour worth of flame. The thing to remember when you build enough fire you want at least three times more wood than what you think you’ll need especially on a smaller pieces because you don’t want to start your fire and have your flame off then you have to start gathering wood all over again and suddenly you want extra and sure to get right just the first time around. So I've got my tinder, I've got my smaller pieces the other thing I want to mention is typically you want your pieces to be 12 to 18 inches long so that the flames spread over the wood fairly easy. Now, I'm going to show you how to start the fire with instead of using matches, the magnesium stick.
