Hi guys, showing this to a folks and today I’m going to take you to the process that I use when I’m preserving or tanning heights. So what I’ve got here is a rabbit skin and when I skin a rabbit which I will shoot a video for you actually, I like to keep the skin as a whole as it changed. Okay so the rabbit skin is tube okay so what I’ve done is I remove the head, this is the head in. Remove the head. I remove the four feet which they said a feet. Okay the four feet tough and our basic peel the animal of—okay we come from the top. Peel out right through so get down as I tell you. And then this is the basic I tell you okay which as it there okay.
Now this I want a skin of rabbits, the reason to this, the skin is so thin and so soft that you’re trying—I try to cut them out and a stitch to put into it so basically what I’m going to do is start the feet very complete to the feet off. You trim the top here and then it goes off already my bag. Also when a skin likes this and we use them for making dummy bunnies for the folk ring. So what I do now okay is you got the skin, we need to and get all this flesh and send you in stuff has to come off the skin okay. You can sit there. So what I use for that—bamboo post. They are all very sharp depending of the skin that I’m using and basically you just place the skin over the paw.
So—it just look so I put on a sock on basically. So I just put the sock, the skin over to the paw and then I have an old folded knife just the cheap one and I keep this blunt. Okay, I don’t see what I'm sharpen it there was an edge but it wouldn’t I mean but I can peel with it but it’s still enough. It’s not that sharp okay so it often set up to be a blunt knife all right and then base or you can just stop, I took my left hand so you can see with the camera and then just start scraping down the skin okay.
So this is the thing of rabbit okay. It couldn’t be hard then it wouldn’t be able to go through the skin because its such a thin skin on it and you can take it very easy but don’t worry about that because we’ll just put a stitch in that and you wont see it when this tender went way in. So keep rocking away down the skin and you can see this is oldest flesh is what were going to need to take off. All of this flesh okay.
By the way if you think I’m just dropping on the floor tile. I bet you got a bin I keep down it, I forgot that was the basis to take it into a bin. Let’s working this up, you work. This is the mess you’ve found around the animal. I am keeping on this round paw. It keeps basic the shape of the animal anyway and it gives you a nice firm surface to work towards. So the bamboo post and up to this about the century in UK.
Now I'm just going to trying to zoom in, I want to see if I can show you—yes pretty good. All right so what we done, we removed on this tough part here I have taken the flesh one which is I got base still were here. Okay this is the flesh, so this has to come off then underneath the flesh, you then have another membrane. Do you see that peeling off? This is quite tough to remove but just be patient to the system and it does stop coming up. You can see peeling by now. You need to try to remove this inner membrane. It’s a very, very thin membrane and this will help—it will make the skin much more soft when it’s full dry. Okay this stuff is very tough. When it’s dry and it makes really a stiff.
So you just take it whenever you’re working through. Okay so just take your time to keep working through the whole skin, over around until you get all that off and then we need to resource it and that will dry the skin out completely. When it’s fully dry it should be quite stiff old and then we can work, I’ll make another video on the rest of the process turning this raw skin turn to a bag of something else. Thank you very much.
