How to Prepare a Rope as a Leading Climber

Alright, now you have a rock site on. Let's get ready to climb. First, take your rope out and roll it out. Tie a knot in one end in case the route is longer than the length of the rope. You don’t want to get lowered off the end. Next, start flaking your rope. I got it on one end and piling it on the rope, like this. You want to ensure there are no tangles or kits on the rope. There's nothing worse than getting in the crux than getting hose because the belays got a fatty knot in the middle of the rope. Make sure to flake it all the way to the other end.
