Hi, I am Jim Tiner, Professional Paper Hanger. Today we are talking about how to hang wallpapers. How we have done most of our preparation. We have got a walls smooth and clean. Next we want it get ready for the paper. Now what I am going to do next is, I am going to take that clear non standing piece that we had and put it in our paint tray and use our roller and roller cover. And put a very thin coat of paste, very thin, over the entire area.
Now I can see a shine, that's all I want to see. I don't want to be able to make a mark in the wall, that's too much paste. We want a very thin layer of paste, top to bottom, you could see, I am still using its roller, to put a thin coat of paste on. After this paste is on, we are going to allow it to dry, we are going to allow it to dry for couple of reasons.
Number one, most pre-pasted papers have excessive amounts of water. This will react to the paste on the wall and absorb the excess water. It already starting to dry, this is good. You want to continue right into the corner, make sure you get into the corners and close to the ceiling. You don't have to be to the top of the ceiling. And I can't stress enough how little you need.
Now remember pasting the wall. People always ask do you paste the sheet as well. Well, I say put the paste where it belongs on the wall. Because trying to paste it again, it will be messy. This will keep everything nice and clean and neat, A lot less headaches. But you can see how little paste I used, I can't stress enough how little you need. Make sure it's nice and thin, make sure it doesn't leave any marks of fingerprints or indentations.
Let's continue right to the door. This is right up to the door. It's going to need to stick there as well. And that's it. Give it a few minutes to dry. Make sure it's dry before you start to hang on it. It will make your life so much simpler. Next we'll be talking about the installation.
