Dr. Suzann Wang: Hi, again. Okay, so today we're going to be talking about somethings to consider before you go to your doctor. I think a lot of people find their typical doctor visit is being more than little bit intimidating in some cases. But it shouldn't be you should really consider your relationship with your doctor a co-management case. So you get to have input as much as what your doctor consideration for -- so just like when you go see your lawyer or your accountant that you provide some information and they give you their expertise and --. So it is definitely something that the two of you have similar agenda for, which is to get you better and you need to have that sort of attitude to go before you go, to go see your doctor. Often times they can be a little bit over bearing, a little bit short with you, if will ask too many questions. So please persist, because it's very important that you be heard and that you are able to signify or tell them what it is that you need from them and make sure that.
First start by making a list of all of your symptoms so that you know exactly what it is you want to talk to your doctor about, If you begin this part and make so little bit harder or some for you to remember often all the things that you might encounter throughout the day or the week that you might acknowledge before you go see your doctor. So make sure that you make a list of all the things of your , all the complaints because a lot of the complaints even though they may see unrelated your doctor might find a relationship between them and it will often have an effect on how they do testing or treatment for you. So that's the first thing.
Make sure you make a list of all the complaints that you have. Also you want to reduce your research. Make sure you do some internet research. See what you can find out about what you are complaining about, so that you have may be a guide or somewhat of an understanding more than just the laymen's understanding of what might be happening to your body. That way your doctor can, you and your doctor can both kind of figure out together what it is that you should be doing and it will help your doctor immensely and if you are much more aware of what else is going on and what possible treatments are there available for you.
Also make sure that you have that kind of an understanding or at least communicate this to your doctor of whether or not you're sensitive to medications, how well you react, when things are better, when things are worst, when you are having -symptoms. So this really helps again for the data collection. So that your doctor can tell good idea of where you stand, so and also talk to your friends about experiences. Get some feedback from other people, go to some online communities. They will can give you in different directions. Sometimes you have to be a little bit good about filtering out what's the valuable information and what isn't. But unless it gives you a bit of a lead to kind of understanding your condition. Often when people come to see me because probably because the insurance -- cover what we do. And people have to pay out of pocket. They tend to be much more empowered and knowledgeable about what we are doing and often times they have gone through the whole medical community and gone throughout other special haven't been able to find and what's wrong with them. So they come to see me kind of that - disorder but part of that is also good. It helps me have patients, who are very knowledgeable about their conditions and can tell me information that I wouldn't otherwise be able to listen in a short amount of time.
If your doctor doesn't seem to be listening to you or if you not having progress, check around, always get a second opinion, make sure that before they want to do anything drastic or scary, make sure you get a second opinion, because often times you will find that you can have lot of time savings, savings of opinion suffering if you are -- if you get a second opinion. Sometimes there is creative solutions to what you have and your doctor, your particular doctor might not know about it. So again check around, know that there are many different place to approach to the same problems. So if one way doesn't work if you don't give up, think that it is just a chronic illness that you just have to deal with. Make sure that you go around and look for other possibilities get's natural stage of the body or health, so as much of that can be -- there are many conditions that can be reversed and don't let your doctors tell you that you are just going to degenerate and get worse and worse. There is nothing they can do about it, because generally there are lot of things that people can do. Just because your doctor might know about it, doesn't mean that there is nothing to do. So make sure you empower yourself and make sure you do your research.
