It all starts at the beginning of this semester. The first class—this class is crucial. Many important things happen, so take note of them. The first class, you want to look around. You want to get a sense of all your classmates, be really nice to them, get a few phone numbers, but pay special attention to the smart looking ones, the ones that are asking a lot of questions, the one sitting up front. They are not bad people, get to know them. They will come in handy. They are very useful people. What also is going to happen in this first class, you are going to get your course syllabus, this thing is your Bible, learn it! Live it! Know everything about it. Take note of very, special important dates like exams, midterms, assignments! If you see those words, highlight it and put it your agenda, it is going to come in handy.
The exams, the day before the exams, the class before the exams—whether it says it or not, there is usually a review! If your teacher is not a complete asshole, he will have a review, so go to these classes, they are really important. If you are one of those people that misses a lot of class, this is where those phone numbers come in handy, give your smart looking friends a phone call every now and then and see if there is any pop quiz, any special assignments coming up that were not on the course syllabus, just stay in contact with them. Take them out for dinner, buy them drink! Just be nice to them, make sure that they like you.
