Wow, this Y2K thing, I wonder if it is really something to worry about. Well, being the old boy scout in me I think we better get prepared. Okay. Now, if you have got Y2K worries and you want to protect the investment in your house, here are some really good things you might want to think about.
If in fact we do lose electricity and heat, you want to make sure you can drain your plumbing system down. Now, you got to go down stairs find the main shut off valve, turn it off and then you want to open up some faucets low in the system and start to get water to drain out. Go around the house flush a toilet, open other faucets up and the water will slowly drain out of your system.
Now, the other thing you want to do. Start getting prepared, maybe you want to stock pile some water, use plastic milk jugs or 2 liter pop bottles, make sure you really, really rinse out the milk bottles and get the milk out of the handle because otherwise it is going to taste bad. The other thing I want you to do, go ahead and get some flashlights some really good ones, get plenty of batteries and think about getting a little portable transistor radio because incase something does go wrong, you will want to know how to react, what everybody else is doing and a transistor radio will work that is for sure.
Okay, if you are really worried about Y2K maybe you ought to think about staying warm. Now get yourself a good sleeping bag, maybe park yourself down by your fireplace make sure you got plenty of wood. Whatever it takes to stay warm and of course get your supplies together make sure they are near by and handy. Now, I do not know about you but I am ready for Y2K. Bring it on baby.
