...making diabetes worse is by using these drugs and all three of these drugs cause magnesium loss in the urine. Go ahead.
And the surgical treatment will skip over this, but they're trying to say now that the best treatment option for diabetes is surgical by suturing the stomach into a smaller position so that you don't eat so much. Go ahead. And you can read this later, but it just goes into the study.
And so the treatment that in natural medicine we advocate is the diet that following glycemic index principles, avoiding sugar, wheat and dairy, exercising major supplements; magnesium, chromium, zinc and the Vitamin B-complex is extremely important and counseling a person who might be missing the sweetness in life causing some people to reach for sweet. Go ahead.
The glycemic index is where foods are broken down either slowly as in beans and whole grains or very quickly with foods that have sugar in them. Food such as concentrated glucose have a high glycemic index, foods with low glycemic index are broken down more slowly. Go ahead.
Controlling the glycemic load of your meals is most important. Now the main thing with slowing down the breakdown of your food, it is to combine protein, fats and whole-food carbohydrates at one meal. Adding coconut oil to a meal or in your protein and vegetable, powdered drink, it is a great way to increase your metabolism and slow down your carbohydrate absorption. So it can be as simple as that, simple as mixing your nuts and seeds, and vegetables and protein together to get, as I said, some protein, some whole, carbohydrate and some fat, all in one meal and it slows things down to have the fats included. Go ahead.
This is just a sidebar here that sucrose or table sugar has a moderate glycemic index. So all of a sudden when they discovered that, I began to see a doctor saying, oh, you can have some sugar or table sugar because it's got a lower glycemic index than we thought. So I don't believe that, that helps people with their blood sugar control at all. I think in the log run, sucrose is just as bad as any form of sugar or junk food in stimulating your insulin and creating the damage around the receptors that burns out your lipid layers. Go ahead.
The alternatives, natural alternatives that I talk about; this is I am featuring one of my books here. It's an eBook, the 'VidaCosta Good Health Encyclopedia' because you'll notice that some food allergies can raise the blood sugar. The Hypoglycemia chapter that I have is of the interest because sometimes people will have hypoglycemia for years and not really know it, and then start to get diabetic symptoms if they don't treat their hypoglycemia. Yeast overgrowth is another trigger to blood sugar imbalance. So please read about these conditions and you can do so by getting this book. You can also learn about digestive problems and how to treat yourself with natural alternatives. Go ahead.
And the diet, we've talked about this a bit, balancing the protein complex, carbs, fats and fruits. Go ahead.
And one of the proteins that I talk about is a protein shake called Provide Powder, a low glycemic egg-pea powder and apple flakes. You can find the listing of that recommendation on my website. I don't sell the product but I do recommend that. Eating something every four hours is important. 100% rye, sourdough bread helps control blood sugar and also keeps you from eating too much of the white bread or even just the whole, some of the whole-grain breads. This is very thick heavy bread and you don't have to be too much to fill full. The protein snacks should be nuts and seeds. Diet tips include choosing organics, avoid farm-raised fish, you are not going to have time to jot this Trader Joe healthy meal down but you can look at it on the Jigsaw website later. Go ahead.
Avoiding alcohol processed foods, all of these things are quite obvious but sometimes you have to remind yourself and check the labels. 4.2 grams equals one teaspoon and you are going to be amazed when you start reading labels finding out how much sugar occurs in what you thought was normal, safe, healthy food. Go ahead.
Processed foods have a lot of sugar, lot of salt as well, this is just more listing of what you try to avoid. Go ahead.
Now getting to the supplements, magnesium is very important for the reasons we talked about earlier. Chromium is involved in the efficient metabolism of our foods, it helps regulate insulin, that's very important, zinc as well. Iodine and selenium are important for thyroid support. Go ahead.
Multivitamin and mineral is important for just balancing out what we are losing from our diet because we don't have soil that has a lot of minerals in it anymore. B-complex is very important to protect the nervous system and to help with sugar digestion. Fish oils are important. Besides of what I have written here, they also coat the cell membrane and help protect the receptor sites. Go ahead.
Herbs that you can research, there are various herbs. Let's take them in combination rather than just concentrating on one herb that can have more of an additional action if you take too much of one herb, but if you take a combination of these together than you can help balance blood sugar. Go ahead.
Onions and garlic you can just take those in your diet and help control your blood sugar. Go ahead.
Stress management is extremely important because it creates overload of cortisol in the body that triggers insulin resistance and promotes the weight gain and increases inflammation, and can lead to diabetes itself. Go ahead.
And the relaxation practices, some people will have to be urged to do some deep breathing or guided imagery or just taking some hot baths and exercising, praying and meditating, and getting a massage, biofeedback can be helpful as well. But the conflict in our world is so overwhelming and we have to address that --
