Hi, I am David Epstein welcome to Growing Wisdom and I got a tip for you that is really important especially if you leave in a climate where it gets quite cold and windy during the winter. And that is take care the of the broadleaf evergreens with an anti-dessicant. Now what is that? You say, well it is a product which stop the moisture from coming out of the leaves of your broadleaf evergreen.
What is broadleaf evergreen this is thing like the Rhododendron and your Hollies, and your Pieris. Their evergreen which actually attending to loss moisture even their winter when they are not growing and when the ground frozen up they cannot get any added moisture in especially between dry fall. So, the plants tends to die out so by spraying them with an anti-dessicant like Wilt Pruf is one example their other out there by spraying them you protect them.
You put a night protective coat on them and they will not losses much moisture. So basically what you do is you just go over to your evergreen we have a nice roady here and you just basically spray it. You do not want to do this when it is below freezing. The product needs to dry on there not freeze on. That is very important so do not do it when it is in the 20’s do it when it is on the upper 30’s and lower 40’s and lower 40’s. I like to do on kind of a cloudy, coolest day it will let it dry up.
The other interesting things about this product you can spray on Christmas trees, you could spay on Christmas Wreaths, you can also use in hydrangea. It will help protect those buds for next spring as well. I am spraying the hydrangea of bud this is the bud which will gives as flowers next year and if this get too dry out. You want to hydrangea your flowers so even if you do not cut your hydrangea down here.
You are not getting flowers and it maybe that this bud here is just drying out each winter and this anti-dessicant will really help that. Give it try so there is your great tip for you and we hope you come back often for all of our videos and more here at growingwisdom.com.
