These are specifically four ways to price wisely and profitably because for many owners of computer repair businesses pricing services can be a tricky endeavor. You have to consider pricing really carefully when you have your own business where your risk not being taken seriously because your rates are too low.
In most cases, that’s the big danger, people tend to charge way too little that’s wrong. Probably where the people are charging too much, but a lot of times to these can be directly related to a marketing problem because maybe you’re attracting super price sensitive customers that are just looking for rock-bottom prices on commodity-types of products and you’re not really having the chance to sell value-added services.
Again, that’s usually in marketing related issue but we will fold it all in here, because when it comes to setting pricing, the time for taking action really is now. If your back is up against the wall because your business can’t make a profit or worst yet, is unable to make ends meet. In more than likely procrastinated too long when it comes to looking at your pricing structure because when you don’t figure out pricing early on in the life of your business, you may also be seen as wishy-washy if you change your prices too frequently.
So If you want to have a —how you want to have a success as the owner of a computer repair business, really you have to think through these issues ahead of time, make sure you price the right way. The first time around so that you can make a profit, so let’s talk about four pieces of advice to help you make sure that you price wisely and profitably.
First, make sure that you consider your pricing strategy before you start-up if it’s all possible. It shouldn’t be an afterthought, it shouldn’t be taken lightly. It’s not something you can just change easily later on, so making sure you have the correct pricing out of the game is absolutely critical probably even before you open the doors to your business.
Obviously, if you already have an existing computer repair business, what should be—you know how do we fix this going forward? Well, you should know that your pricing structure should be something that your customers and clients can count on. Part of building a strong computer repairs business is building the trust with your customers and clients, and showing them that you will be there to solve their problems and respond to their needs.
If you change your mind on hourly billing rates or how you are charging, your customers they’re likely to resist and your credibility could be at stick, so if your prices change too much, you may end up losing valued customers and clients altogether which really would be a shame because again, your pricing structure is something that your customers and clients count on. And they certainly expect that overtime prices go up a little bit, but if they wake up one day and they have a letter from you or the next time they call you they find out that your prices have doubled, men they’re going to have some big time sticker shock and that’s pretty good chance you can lose your customers, so make sure that you think for these things ahead of time, and the way they make sense to your business.
And you should also know that the state of the economy is important to how you price things, and in a good economy being able to pass through annually increases of 5, 10%, or 15% or about as much as you can pass through without being seen as going overboard.
Now, if you really make a mistake with pricing when you start your computer repair business and find you need to pass along a price increase of more than a $20.00 or $25.00 per hour than to keep your business afloat. It’s some cold wearing your face, but you’ll probably be better off just replacing your customers and clients and starting from scratch. Why? Because unless you're exceptionally lucky, even your most loyal customers and clients will strongly and very vocally and in this case resist a large hourly rate increase that seems out of line and totally out of that field.
Fourth, you should understand the cost of new client acquisition before you do things that are going to alienate a customer or alienate clients or your entire client lists. You should know what it costs you to acquire those clients in the first place if your pricing absolutely positively must be changed in order to remain profitable. More than likely you’re going to have to find new clients. Don’t underestimate the enormity of this task. New clients will have to be brought on board under the new pricing strategy, but what cost? Rather than incurring unnecessary expenses, make sure it begin with the correct pricing strategies, so they can pass along minor increases the same way most other businesses do except during period of great recession.
