Hi, this is a very short film about shelterbelt in our orchard, that kind about the cups which is beyond and then makes them from another day. This is a poplar tree called Populus Robusta. I just want you to think about how old this might be. It’s sure is kind of stand next to a singular tree though a hug maybe.
The benefit of a shelter belt is you can get an idea of an adult woman, a brother or Julia standing next to tree, just get an idea of the size of the tree. Think about how an old the tree might be. The benefit of having a shelter belt is it slows down the wind speed and it has a number of benefits.
First of all, it doesn’t blow your trees over us some more a notch. Secondly, it means that you can spray the orchard. It’s a shame we have to use pesticides the longest size or you grow it with the organic ones, too and having the shelter belt contains the sprays. You get less spray drift. The more accurate climate is a bit warmer, giving you together an idea of how big those trees are in there. So, how do you think they are?
The shelter belts are very good things as a hedges. These trees are Populus Robusta. It’s a particular clone of poplar called Robusta, the robust poplar and that’s what for the seedlings. You can see this later on.
Now, we planted those trees in the winter of 1998, so they’re 11 years old and they would tie with little strips of wood with roots on them. It came to the post from Buckingham stores. So, this is just giving you an idea why, one reason why is to always with planting trees is some of them particularly can grow quicker than you think and with those trees as not all shelter belt have poplars. It reduces the wind speed which has a number of benefits.
Trees don’t get blown over so much. Spray is contained. Insects such as bees, beneficial insects grow a bit more although there’s a hedge, mixed hedge of hazel and Hawthorne and sloe and the grass. Those are the very plants which we get and there’s enough firewood out of poplar anything else and knocks as well.
So, that’s some Populus Robusta, 12 years old, 11 to 12 years old.
