Meriel Bradley: What can you do to protect your brand new shiny vehicle? Drive carefully, avoid tight parking spots and purchase some peace of mind. With auto protection on his mind, Derek Chan of Hyundai of Oakville, speaks with us today, dings, dents and warranties. This is Daily Web TV.
You have chosen your vehicle, you are ready to buy, now what. Hit on to the now what, is Derek from Hyundai of Oakville. Now Derek, what's the next step? Once you have gone through the process of choosing your vehicle?
Derek Chan: Alright, so now you have chosen your vehicle, settled on price and everything is ready to go. Now you have to see our financial services office.
Meriel Bradley: Now what does your financial service office do?
Derek Chan: I am glad you asked. What that is, is we work closely with the bank, so you don't have to go out there yourself to a bank to get the approval for extended loans, so leasing or financing, you can all go through us.
Meriel Bradley: So you do that leg work for me?
Derek Chan: Exactly, kind of like a one stop shop. You don't have to go out there, hogger with the banks, and worry about that, we do that for you.
Meriel Bradley: Now, do you have better rates in the bank, so if I come to you, will I get a better rate?
Derek Chan: You will, that's a very good question. Of course, Hyundai itself, manufacture will work, toe-and-toe with a bank, okay, and that's how we get a lot of the subsidized rates, right? So if you come through us, obviously sometimes, like you see now, Hyundai has 0% financing up to 36 and 60 month, depending an the vehicle.
Meriel Bradley: Wow!
Derek Chan: Yeah.
Meriel Bradley: That's very good. So you are really giving a lot back to the client.
Derek Chan: Exactly.
Meriel Bradley: So I get a great weight from you, you do all the leg work. Is there any thing else that you do for me?
Derek Chan: Yes, now you have purchased the car. I think you want to talk about how you protect you investment, okay? So now you've spent all this great money, $20,000, $30,000, $40,000 on a car, you want to make sure it's maintained for the rest of its life.
Meriel Bradley: So what do you do for that?
Derek Chan: So there is few different products that I would recommend. The first one is kind of like a total protection package for your car, okay. You are going to look at the exterior, the interior and kind of the skeleton of the car, you want to protect, right?
So the first part, it's kind of like a putting lotion on you skin. You want to protect and make sure it's nice and smooth and will last a long time, right. So you put a layer of protection on top of the exterior, okay. The interior, again, it's we'll protect it, to protect against stains and kind of dogs, cats, children, yourself.
Meriel Bradley: All those things that you put in your car, because you use your car a lot, right?
Derek Chan: Exactly, yeah.
Meriel Bradley: So it protects it from those stains, and wear and tear.
Derek Chan: Wear and tear, yeah, whips, burns so all of that's taking care for lifetime that's available for you. And the third part like I was mentioning, is the skeleton, so inside the, car doors, and underneath that the wheel wells, in those kind of areas where moisture can sit and collect.
Meriel Bradley: Right, is that the framework?
Derek Chan: Yeah, it's a bit of the framework inside the doors, and so it will start to rust if -- these Canadian weathers are harsh, right. We get the extreme summers, we get the extreme winters, so you really want to protect your car that way.
Meriel Bradley: So it's a three point protection?
Derek Chan: Exactly.
Meriel Bradley: Inside, outside and really inside, skeleton. So that's one, you said you had three things that you would talk about.
Derek Chan: So some customers only want to keep their cars may be four or five years, okay. If that's the case, we do have an excellent product for you as well. This one is a four point area what it covers, one is the windshield, second is the tire and rim, the third is the remote, and the forth is dent and ding. Okay, so it's a kind of complete road hazard protection for you.
Meriel Bradley: So if I dent my car you fix it?
Derek Chan: You dent it, you crack your windshield, you damage the tires from when driving around, or the rim itself, which can be expensive. You know tires and rims, you will be looking at $500 sometimes to replace one.
Meriel Bradley: Right.
Derek Chan: Right.
Meriel Bradley: So if you get too close to the curb when you are parking?
Derek Chan: Yeah, and we won't tell them whatever you did.
Meriel Bradley: So that protects you. And you say, 4 or 5 years, so is that because you want to maintain that resale value when you are ready to exchange it?
Derek Chan: That's exactly, and also you never want money out of your pocket when something like that happens, right? So we can build into the payment and it will end up may be under $10 biweekly for you.
Meriel Bradley: Wow, and then you got that long term investment, so what's the third product?
Derek Chan: The third one is an extended warranty, so Hyundai, gives you a great warranty, 5 years, 100,000 right now, for your every car that you purchase, okay? But some customers will keep their cars maybe 7, 8 years, okay, or do more kilometers than 100,000 with in that timeframe.
Meriel Bradley: Right.
Derek Chan; So we offer extended warranties, where you can extend it up to 7 years or 8 years, 160,000 km.
Meriel Bradley: Well, I think you've answered the now what? That's great information. Now if someone wants to talk about financing first, is that the wrong way round or should you always choose your car first?
Derek Chan: Yeah, you will want to choose your car first. Because we always want to make sure our customers love the car, and have the car that's right for them.
Meriel Bradley: Right.
Derek Chan: There is not point in talking price or all these other things if you don't love the car, right?
Meriel Bradley: So we love the car and then we get the financing.
Derek Chan: Yes.
Meriel Bradley: Now where can we go for more information, Derek?
Derek Chan: You can check out our web at www.hyundaiofoakville.ca or you can come on and check us out down at the store at Bronte & QEW.
Meriel Bradley: Thank you, great information. Now if you want more information, or if you want to talk finance, be sure to check out the website. I am Meriel Bradley, Derek Chan has said, now what? And has helped us protect our investment and you've been watching Daily Web TV.
