Hey, guys Chris again from ClassicVWBbugs.com and I got another tip for you today and it comes to protecting your door panels and what to do? If you saw my earlier tip, I had a couple of days ago, I like to sound insulate my doors, see if you see here, that aluminum backing right here. I actually bought this stuff at Home Depot called Quick Roof and that's a good sound deadener, so I always put that in my doors to just quiet the sound and when you close the door, it's a nice thunk, there's no tiny sound out of that. So that's one thing you want to do.
The other thing is, before you put your door panels on, I usually get myself like a plastic sheet or garbage bag and I tape on to the door, this plastic sheet. The reason you want to do that is because a lot of times if you are caught in the rain, and the rain gets down in between and sometimes these seals up here will not stop the rain, so take it down there and they start hitting the door panel. Over time, the door panel just going to become what they calls a "potato chip" effect, where it starts to look wobbled and it's not going to stay straight, that's why you see a lot of Volkswagen,
I see a lot of Volkswagens for sale where the door panels all wobbled, because there is no protective shielding behind it. If you have this protective shielding at least you'll stop the rain and water from hitting the back of the door panel. I mean if you're spending all that new money on door panels and interiors and what not, why not protect to make it long lasting with just a sheet. I mean you could use the sheet, sometimes I just got regular box tape and box tape to close the whole square section. Of course, you want to punch holes in for the window and the door. To open a window - to open a door and roll down a window, but definitely just get a good old garbage bag and tape it up to the door, because that's going to protect the back of the door panel.
Alright! That's another tip for today, if you got any questions, chris@ClassicVWBugs.com or visit my website, ClassicVWBbugs.com. Take care.
