I got a top five lists for you. Yap, top five lists for buying software, does that trip your geek trigger? Did you even know you had it a geek trigger, yes you do. It is your job to find it and I am not going to tell you, because every geek’s trigger is located differently on their bodies. Mine, I am not going to tell you. Hey Chris, Drakey here, I do not have much time view the life I feed and the time difference makes it harder, however I do watch your show on You tube so I decided to finally add my two pennies, he is from England. To your top five lists please find and close my top five in no particular order on buying software.
5. Decide whether you really need the software. Software can be expensive and the last thing you want to do is go out and waste your money on something that you probably not going to use more than ones if it all, so no software impose buying. They do not have a demo available you do not buy it, are we clear? Are we clear, that is the point where you guys say crystal.
4. Check compatibility. This is more or less in advance user type of I guess qualification point so you know you want to make sure that the software you get is going to be the software that is going to work on your computer, you know what I am saying oh, that is exactly what he is saying. I never done on myself, but family members of contact me and ask me how to get the software to work, I am going try to install software for Mac on the windows machine, Oh, that is not good.
3. Read, reviews etc. Websites claiming their software to something does not necessary mean and always do that, it is true. You know even thought I could say here and say I am a geek and you just have to take me, you know what it face value. You do not know I am a geek, I could be a character actor or something you know like I got nothing better to do with my time rather than sitting for a two 30 inch monitors watching matrix screen savers as they cascade down. Read the reviews; gosh if people cannot stand it do not buy it. Do not even download it find out what the community is saying you know what I am talking about. They are part of reviews offer an impartial viewing you can always help you understand whether the product is going work for you or not. I found this a great tip for almost all products I am thinking about buying not just software.
2. Make sure you re going to be able to use it by this I mean, it would be no good giving my dad who is not computer literate a copy of Photoshop and expecting to be able to get his money worth out of it. Make sure the software you buy is with in your computer knowledge range oh so true.
1. Search for free or organ source alternatives, by this I mean do not download illegally you know the software pirating thing. We are really not and do it. It is a kind of rude I mean imagine, okay so here is the equivalent right. Imagine some one came to you and asked you to do something for them and you did it and then they walked away with you without paying you, with that it is not fun I mean you want to punch the guys or girl in the eye. It does not matter how bigger a software company or developer is I mean that is based with the license so we are not just into the whole illegal pirating thing more often than that, the features I mean an expensive software package could be equal by freeware. If you search around a little bit you can probably find many or at least one package that can match even the greatest and most expensive software, that is true. In Ponzie my wife broke a few of these what I believe are cardinal rules for buying software, she wanted to start compiling notes for a book she wanted to write and I thought that was school. But she ended up buying software of the shelf without reading reviews, without downloading a demo and without checking compatibility and then checking for free alternatives and there happen to be an open source alternative for her to use in this case and it was almost more full featured. There are more features in the open source version of you know this type of software there was in there commercial version.
So, it is true you just got to look around. You got to find what is going to fit your budget and you know and that is not to say that not all users is not worth with the money I am not even speaking properly tonight. You know what I am saying I mean. The other day I was looking for good getting things done at and every room is going nuts over this high end product that cost right around a $100 like oh $100 slow down buckaroo. There is got to be a better alternative and sure enough, friends made a recommendation of a product that was far less and in fact it is invade it so I can test it now for free and kind to get into the flow of it. And then when it is going to final, they are offering discount like a 20% discount for people who sign up for the mailing list like yes it is a good price point if it can deliver what I need it to deliver. So we will see how that goes when it is released, another thing you may think about with software if you can review software. Sometimes you can ask for a view copy of software, I do frequently approach vendors whose software I want to try to see if they can get me a review copy so I can test it and then write about it. Share information about it and you know even if it is shareware it is free publicity for them, so there is a lot of ways you can do that if you do not have blog. You know we got a way; you can sign up for a free blog on rockerknown.com.
