Look, my child is very active, loves to play, asks "why, why, why" literally hundreds of times each day, has a unique sense of humor, makes cool observations, and absolutely drives me crazy. And guess what, all of the other kids in the neighborhood are the same. This isn't gifted, this is how children are. I think it's wonderful that parents think their children are the best - after all, if parents don't adore their own children, who will? But please don't try to give advice on giftedness in this way. Look around you. All children have these gifts.

So what's the point? Have your child do the practice test enough times so that s/he gets the answers right and gains admission to a gifted class? Anyone child could score well under those circumstances, but doesn't this defeat the purpose of the test? Oh, and don't forget to write keep a diary of all of the profound things your child has said - not so much as a keepsake, but to remind your child each day of how gifted he or she is. We all have hopes and dreams for our children who are all precious, but this seems so overboard.

the criteria used to evaluate whether your child is gifted is hardly objective and whether or not the child is gifted should be properly measured. Notwithstanding the natural desire of parents to want the very best for their child, especially their first child and to see them stand out unique and special is apparent. Some foresight should also be considered in the welfare and interest of the child. There are standards and presures and goals that are being built at a deeper level which does not in the long run ilicit natural development but will threaten it even consume it. The part abuot practicing for the exam transforms underscores this over zealous ambition of parents taking it from a natural "gifted" state in which some children function to a commodity for barter and boast.

Soooo, you let your kid practice the test before she took it, huh? And they provided practicing material. I wouldn't trust these testing practices. There's a learning effect, that's why you have to wait 2 years to retest a child. If you let them practice, even if the questions aren't the same, the test becomes unreliable.

This seems so totally misguided it is sad, especially the bit about gifted kids liking their sayings read out in front of other adults. They are not "gifted", they are attention seekers who probably need help with their emotional development.
