Hi! I am Kim Oser. I am a certified professional organizer and owner of Put It Away! Professional Organizing. Today, I am going to share techniques to organize your home office. Being organized can help reduce both your clutter and your stress. What we are going to go over today is your room layout, organizing your inbox, organizing your desk drawer, creating a filing system, organizing your files to take the stress out of tax season and ways to corral the mess of cords.
To get started, you'll need a desk, a milk crate, file drawer or file box, drawer organizers, boxes to hold papers, hanging an interior file folders, some masking tape, a permanent marker or label maker, a trash can and a recycle bin. There are no real safety precautions when organizing your home office, but please use caution if you are moving large objects such as a filing cabinet or your desk.
I have been organizing my entire life but professionally since 2004, when I started Put It Away! Well, some people feel that organizing can be you need, I do believe that it can be a learned behavior. I learn new skills and techniques for organizations everyday through hands-on experience as well as education. In 2007, I became a member of the Inaugural Class of Certified Professional Organizers. So let's get started, so you too can reduce your clutter and stress by organizing your home office.
