How to Reapply to the Same University

Derek Meeker: Hi there, my name is Derek Meeker and I’m a senior Law School Consultant for admissions consultants; a consulting firm for aspiring the college, business, medical, graduate and law school applicants. Today, I’m going to be answering some questions about law school admission process.

Male: Am I judged any differently if I reapply to the school that rejected me?

Derek: Well, if you reapply what the Admissions Committee is going to be looking for specifically is what’s changed since your last application. So you definitely want to do an assessment of the application that you submitted in the prior year and really try to identify where your weaknesses have might been. And you want to make changes in those areas. So maybe your LECT score was too low then you should think about retaking the test. Maybe you didn’t have much work experience or much involved in on campus. So get involve in community service or take some time and work for a year or two and that would add something new to your application.

Applicants who get rejected at schools may very well be admitted in a subsequent year but again, you have to think about what you could do to improve your application if you submit the same application with the same recommendations, the same essay you’re going to get the same decision.
