How to Reconstruct Your Jeans

Stefanie Girard: Hi! I am Stefanie Girard of the Quayside Publishing Groups, Look Learn and Create, How To, video series. I am here at Maker Faire Swap around with the author of 'Jean Therapy,' Scatha G. Allison. It is no nice to meet you finally in person. Scatha Allison: Hi!. Stefanie Girard: Now the pieces in your book are just beautiful, and I finally get to see some of them in present today. Scatha Allison: Yes, exactly. So we are going to just look at a few. This is an example of the Denim bags, so all it is if you look at it closely, it is just a pair of pants, just like that. There is the back, see, and then you just take the legged up hands and you turn into the strap, and that's it, it's just a regular pair of jeans. Stefanie Girard: And this is a really nice cleaning detail. Excellent job. Scatha Allison: Exactly, and that's really easy to do. Everything in the book we did, didn't use an overlock, we only used a straight stitch machine, so that you don't need to have extra tools. Stefanie Girard: Super. Cool. Scatha Allison: Okay. The next one we have, these are just like an example of how you can customize just a regular pair of jeans. See we have some patches on them, patches on the back is actually we are fixing holes that were on them, and then you added this ruffle, this ruffle actually came from an old pair of theater pantaloons, so that's why they are old kind of ragged and roughly, but it's totally really easy to just make a whole look, by coordinating that kind of stuff. Stefanie Girard: Cool. Thank you. Scatha Allison: And then -- thank you. Then this is our Queen of Denim skirt, this is like one of the most favorite, it weighs about 12 pounds, and it's 14 daisy dips, and you wear it like this, and all it was done, and this pattern actually is not in the book because it was too complicated to present, but it's really easy, it's just the tops of the jeans. You make the top fit, and then you spiral downwards. Stefanie Girard: Oh! It's a spiral? Scatha Allison: Yes, you go one right after the other until you hit the bottom. Stefanie Girard: Very Cool. Scatha Allison: And last of all we are going to show you the Denim jacket, super easy, this was actually just all recycled jeans, and then you used the ties, it's just a wrap around jacket like that. Stefanie Girard: That is so beautiful. Oh! Let's see the ties. Scatha Allison:And these are all -- we had like 100 ties here yesterday at the swap and they are all gone. Here we go, so.
