Hi, this is Kieth Scott from Back To Form Fitness with another tip to help you with your fitness programs. Today; I am going to talk a little bit about recovery and I have got a lot of questions all the time about how to recover. People ask me you know how to deal with soreness after a work out and how to deal with joint pain and things like that. We all have different issues. But there are certain things you can do to insure that you recover faster and that you feel better so you can get to your next workout and you do not miss too much.
One of the first things I tell people is to use modalities and modalities they are certain type of tools to help speed along in the helping to increase the speed of your recovery rate. Things like heat, cold, massage. Those are often types of modalities. One of the things that help you immediately after they work out is you know their sores. They make sure they stretch. Stretching has its place in and there are a lot of people they get a lot of good benefits from stretching but you want to stretch a little bit when your finish your work out, not necessarily before you want to do a long nice slow static stretch after you workout for a while. Stretching is going to help to keep the muscles loose. It is going to help you get rid of tightness or adhesions and it will go a long way and helping you feel less sore.
The second tip is use heat. Okay. Normally I do not use heat after an injury, you want to use cold wrap after an injury but in the case of soreness and stiffness, heat goes a long way. If you have access to a Jacuzzi or a hot tub I recommend that, if not you can use a hot bath or a very hot shower. Hot and especially hot water therapy goes a long way. I used to make my athletes go and get a very hot shower immediately after a football game or some kind of any other kind of sporting event and this go a long way to reduce the amount of soreness.
And the third thing I am going to talk about and I already mention this in another video is a soft issue work. Okay if you have a foam roller, tennis balls, any kind of massager or you have access to somebody that can give you a massage. Soft tissue work is huge for recovery. So the info med just those three things everyday a little bit of stretching, okay. Soft tissue work and some hot therapy. If you do not like the hot shower or the tub, you could even use a hot pack but water therapy goes a lot longer on the way. You are going to see that your recovery speeds up. You are going to have more blood flow to those areas to help you repair your tissue faster and we will give you back to your work out so a little sooner.
