If you’re trying to find your missing files and you’re not sure what you’ve done with them, here’s a few steps of things you can go through to try get them back.
The first thing is open up Windows Explorer or My Computer and you want to click on Recycle Bin and that will show you all the files that you’ve recently deleted. Now, if they are not in there, close that down and open up, go to the Start menu and go to Search. Click that Search button. Then what you can do is see if it’s in somewhere that maybe you’ve accidentally moved it or maybe you saved it somewhere and you don’t know where. So, open up this and you can click on All files and folders. And then just type in part of the file name which it could have been and this will default to look in your local hard drives. If you’re not sure where it is, then just leave that as it is.
The third option is if you think you’ve actually deleted the file and it’s not in Recycle Bin, then you can run a scan, a Data Recovery scan on your machine to check whether it’s still there but just being deleted and Windows does not include it in its list of files. So, all you do is open up this software and click Start Scan. And this will work on USB drives, Removable disks, Floppy disks. So, if you’ve got files that you’re missing, then try run this data recovery if you can’t find it in the other way.
