Recycle your Eyeglasses
Hey everyone! I am Eric Rochow and this is Real World Green. Did you know, that there are 4 million pairs of eyeglasses thrown out in North America every year? Hello! What are we going to do about that? Well, we are going to take them and we are going to donate them. There are 1 billion people in the developing world that need eyeglasses, but can not afford them and specifically in Africa 50% of the children in schools for the blind could be -- their eyesight could be improved and helped with eyeglasses, but they can't afford them.
So what are we going to do? We are going to collect our eyeglasses that we don't need and we are going to donate them. There are a couple of ways. One is through your local Lions club. By the way, I am a member of the local Lions club and they are a really good group. Even they let me in so. The Lions club around your town, they will have collection boxes, maybe in your library, your town hall, places like that. Look around and ask.
Also there is another site called Unite For Sight and they help you on the website, create a local organization group that you can go out and collect a bunch of eyeglasses and with their help, you can donate the people who need them, which is a cool thing. Instead of taking these and throwing them out when you don't need them anymore, give it someone who needs them. It just makes sense.
Alright, so, coming to the Green house, tell me what you are doing with the all eyeglasses. Green-house.tv. Alright? Make it a great day. I will see you later.
