John Desilvia: This absolutely no doubt the Holtzman family wants help updating this
bathroom.
Amy Holtzman: For as much as times are we spending there with the kids and everything
in baths and showers and it just be nice surf it with a little more
comfortable. We are going to remodel our bathroom, our old updated
yucky bathroom.
Bob Holtzman: 20 year old bathroom.
Amy Holtzman: This is the sketch of much bigger shower.
John Desilvia: Seems title looks like it works.
Bob Holtzman: Definitely squeezing a lot into. Here’s a whole plan revamps the carpet
and replace with tile. A new bigger shower, a new bigger tub, the one big
vanity becomes two separate vanities plus a doorway gets relocated to
create two huge new classes. The doorway from the bathroom into the
closets is being move right here to create better flow and more space. We
are going to try proceeding demolition because you guys want to save the
casing, want to save the gym and you want to save the door.
Bob Holtzman: Yeah, basically we have to move the whole things.
John Desilvia: We have 30 inch door and we are going to make our opening 32 inches.
So let’s see we got our opening on this side and we are going to go on the
other side of the wall and we just going to screw the sheet rock or the
knife so that we’ve got a nice clean cut. Proceeding demolition, our work
for that day, with the new opening created it’s time to move the old door
again it’s all about reusing materials. Alright, this is what we are going to
do, in order to take this door and put it in that opening we have to remove
all the casing first and want to be careful removing the casing otherwise
you are going to have to buy new. So let’s score to this side, this side then
you get your flat bar and pride it away use your foot. Let see if it works.
Yeah, after two months this project is finally finished. Final price tag just
over 25 grand, that’s a 30% savings under the Holtzman best bid, here is
how they did it. Doing the demo save more than 2 grand, laying tile save
more than a grand, by doing the shopping and avoiding the contract this
mark up they save $1500, moving the door save more than 500 and
created two huge closets. I want to see your closet actually; I want to see
this year size of your closet.
Bob Holtzman: It’s big.
John Desilvia: And you guys save a lot of money installing the shelving yourself.
Bob Holtzman: We did and actually it is a lot of pieces but it really it wasn’t that bad
wants me kind to got and go away.
John Desilvia: When you include some extra work by Amy and Bob and of course the 17
bucks from the recycling, savings total 1900 bucks a lot of money and a
lot of extra space.
