This is a little bit more intermediate. This is for people that wants to reduce their boot time. And this program is called BUM or they called it Boot Up Manager. And you get in your repositories, BUM. After you have it, you can use the terminal or use the run command which is Alt+F2. And in here, we are going to run in from administration parts so gksudo, bum.
So, this is the program. Now, all you got to do is click on the advance here because it’ll help you even better. And go to the part where it says services. Now in here, you get to read the description of the services that are running or not. The one that is running is the one with the light bulb and the others are like dead or not activated. So, your job is to look at all these services and determine if you need it or not. You have a little description. You read it and see if you need it to be running on your boot up. So, if you are on a desktop or something, you wouldn’t certainly need a laptop or any type of services that deals with laptop because you don’t need that. Same thing if you don’t use Bluetooth or you don’t have a network so it’s you know a pretty basic stuff. Go look at what services that you know you don’t need.
My recommendation is if you don’t know what the hell it is, just leave it alone but if you do know like you know certainly what type of thing that it is and you don’t need it, then turn it off and that’s about it. So that’s your job, just go on there and hunt and disable. And like I said, I don’t know how much this will help you in your boot up time. It might help you a little bit or none at all, at least you can give it a try. And after that all you do is apply and in your next boot up time, it might be faster and that’s how you would do it to you know reduce your boot up time. So, that’s about it for this program.
