Ivy: Well, you may think of shipping when you think of UPS, but the UPS store has a variety of other business services and joining me is Toure Jones, a franchisee of UPS Store. Toure, what is one of the most common challenges that small business owners come to US?
Toure: If you see is around printing. Be it be formulation of the design, of a newsletter, or logo information onto business cards presentations and presentation folders.
Ivy: Awesome! We’re going to take a closer look some of the printing services that UPS Store has to offer. Okay, let’s take a look.
Toure: Okay. One of the first things that small business owners need on start to end is graphic design. Sure they have a logo design but they don’t necessarily have a letterhead or business card. And those things are pretty immediate, I mean we can print it here, design it here, cut it here, and basically leave with a set of business cards.
Ivy: Awesome! Now, if I’ve already got some of the designs, I can also email right over to you, right?
Toure: That’s right.
Ivy: And you’ll prove it for me and then print it and everything.
Toure: Yes we do. I like to let my customers know. Okay, I’m not exactly proofing.
Ivy: Right.
Toure: But I’m always looking over it before it goes final.
Ivy: That’s nice.
Toure: Okay, because we want you to know, “Hey, did you know that you maybe misspelled the word here or didn’t put a period on the end of that sentence.” And also the kind of things that people pay attention too even though it’s not over there.
Ivy: Is that coming to an extra charge?
Toure: No, that actually comes along with the service.
Ivy: Value added service right Toure? We love it. That’s awesome. Now, I wanted to ask, after the printing goes you’ve got what we call after page presentation, so you might have a booklet or something. So, you also offer other services in terms of that.
Toure: Yes. We print, fold, collate, hole punch, staple. We make booklets directly out of the machine. It’s really a beautiful process you see it happen.
Ivy: How does the small business are going to go about getting to start and trying to get some of your input on either doing business cards or table tents or any of those applications.
Toure: Oh really, you can just give us a call and come on in.
Ivy: Okay.
Toure: I mean that’s pretty much what it takes. I want to make sure that our design’s price list is here and being able to sit down with the customer, be able to talk over the options that they have.
Ivy: Awesome.
Toure: Usually, it’s very important.
Ivy: Awesome! So, we talked about business cards. We talked about booklets which I mentioned table tents. Is there anything else we missed that you can do I know there’s a time.
Toure: We’ve always had letter head.
Ivy: Okay.
Toure: We’ve always got large format posters.
Ivy: Okay.
Toure: We can actually print posters of 24 inches wide by any length. And actually we even do vinyl posters and banners.
Ivy: So, you can print all kinds of things here for small business owner, but you’ve got some great tips on three cardinal rules that kind of to keep in mind when it comes to printing.
Toure: Okay, first rule is the very most important rule. Keep it simple the KISS rule, okay.
Ivy: Okay.
Toure: When you’re keeping it simple, you basically want to provide clear, concise, answers to the questions that they may have. It basically provides the contact information so that they can call you for more information.
Ivy: Okay.
Toure: Number two is going to be the use of colors. You really want to stick with basic colors. You don’t want anything too bright or too bold or too specific that can basically distract the customer, okay. The third rule is going to be templates. There are vast array of templates online that you can go to many different websites. You can Google it. I mean that’s one of the easiest way.
Ivy: So, in template for your letter head or branding or doing kind of logo more if you can do it that way. Great, Toure with UPS store, thanks for your time. About printing, all your printing needs, UPS Store is so much more than shipping, it’s printing.
